Sorry LR but there is so much wrong with your post. I'm not going to repeat what everyone has said. However Harold is not and never has been the man for us and he will not stay around long enough to do what you hope he will. For once I agree 110% with Queenie. Long live our alliance in the name of all things good in blue and white hoopsah
Just thought I would offer LR some support, as quite a few appear to be in disagreement...I agree with a large amount of what you have written mate and I really would like us to try and build a solid base with HR for someone to take over from in 3-4 years maybe. Not really interested in the internet vs no information old days debate, but I know what you are getting at in the post and I agree with the general sentiments of it. Personally I would like to see him given some time, but unfortunately that is pretty much non existent in the game these days. Hopefully he will get off to a good start next season and get the fans behind him, otherwise I fear it will be another depressing season...
Good post - spot on in my opinion... I would like to see him given the season, but would not be surprised to see him go if by Christmas we are bottom half fodder
I voted to keep Harry, come what may, for all the 2013/14 season. I am just so fed up with changing managers every 5 minutes. We need stability! Having said that, I can sympathise with those fans who have seen a lack of discipline and motivation coming from Harry. His public criticism of the players is, at best, unhelpful; plus his overall demeanour makes you want to slash your wrists! I hope the Summer rekindles his enthusiasm and he can show that he is up for the fight.
We only need stability when we have a good manager and players. Neither are showing any sign of turning it around. We will have less stability if he stays because he will bring in a dozen players and then leave.we need a new man to make wholesale changes PDC style.
I agree we need stability wanted to keep Hughes and let him get us out but seriously how stable is Harold? He's no bomb disposal officer His head isn't stable His pulse can't be stable If he was a Horse he would have bolted his stable and even that stable wouldn't be stable
Young and hungry manager. Harry will buy, we'll have a rubbish start to the season then be looking for a new manager at christmas who has to start the whole process again. I think Harry is as guilty as all the players who joined for the money and it's not as if we haven't given him a chance
Ferguson didn't win anything for the first 3-4 years. But Man U did not play the crap we have seen. Moyes has never won anything major but Everton have never been less than a competent outfit since he started and have improved steadily. People will know that I thought it was a huge mistake to despatch Warnock on the back of a bad run of results. I was also one of the last to see the light so far as Hughes is concerned. However I have never been convinced that Redknapp was the man for us. I feared disaster and financial meltdown. The first has happened and the latter is a serious possibility as we seem to have a gambler in control who is banking everything on his latest decision coming right. Even now, he is gambling on the future of our club on the basis of nothing more than his trust in Harold. For those of you who want to give him until Christmas or the whole of next season you need to remember that Harold is not reknowned for his loyalty or sticking it out when the hard times come. Also remind yourselves that he left Southampton in such a parlous state that they went into administration. Not his fault? No of course not. He had long since deserted that sinking ship. He merely sowed the seeds with the connivance of a chairman who really should have known better. Then the same happened with Portsmouth, his one real success. His only mtigation is that he was not the only mercenary to take his pound of flesh out of Pompey before it all went tits up. What precisely is it that you have seen that leads you to suppose that if he is given free rein to write off all of Tony's losses and to bring in an entirely new team that we will have a talented bunch ready to die for the cause and potential for the future? Holloway built a team at Blackpool on a proverbial sixpence. So did the much derided Warnock with us. Do you really see Harold having that kind of motivational skill and an ability to juggle with the finances to squeeze every last bit out of the players under his control? A man whose only contribution over the last few weeks has been: 1 To denigrate all the players that Hughes brought in while continuing to sing the praises of Chris Samba that colossus TF broke the bank for at his request. 2 Tell everyone who cared to listen that we are in danger of going the same way as Wolves. While that may be true, do you really want your manager saying that? 3 Deliver an ultimatum to the Board to back him to rebuild the team with his own players and get rid of everyone else. I would expect a manager in his shoes to keep his trap shut and get on with it. I would expect him to attempt to build a fighting spirit in the players to go down all guns blazing so that we all, players, fans and owners have some hope at the end of the season that we we can bounce back in style. I'm sick to death of hearing him tell us what we have all been saying for a long time - that the spirit of the team is rotten to the core and that the players we now have (the ones we bought in the last 21 months) are only here for the money. Since relegation was confirmed, Reading have played with some spirit. The burden was lifted. We, on the other hand................ Well what do you expect when the manager's only aim is to squeeze as many minutes out of Zamora as he can and to persuade him to postpone his op indefinitely. For what? To keep us up? A bit late for that. it's not as though it's been successful any way. We have one penalty to show for it. Fans who had to endure that rubbish should have their money refunded. That would be harsh on Tony. How about chipping in Harold? Oh no. I forgot. You know nothing about financial arrangements. You just seem to end up alright son. Miraculous isn't it? And the press and MOTD panel think the sun shines out of your proverbial.
I voted get rid, he's already laying the groundwork for his departure with the "let me spend (& trouser a few backhanders) or I'm off bollox".....v unimpressed with his contribution since Nov notwithstanding the **** show he inherited. Him & his entourage will jump at first premier league opportunity that comes along anyway so let's not be deluded he'd be here for the long term regardless of any loyalty we show him We should be talking to Poyet or Robinson as they are both young, talented & clearly ready to jump...
Epic stuff Yorkie. I never liked Warnock, though I respected him for turning the club round. But even I have to admit he's looking increasingly hard done by. Even Hughes at least kept his challenges in house. This joker is the worst of the lot.
Spot on stan & yorkie. I was always a fan of HR and do believe that when he first came we did play some better football. He made a few hard decisions i.e. adel & granero and our results seemed to start improving. then about 5 games in, we gobbed off and we are now worse than we were under MH. im struggling to remember just what it was that i liked about him? Matbe the Spurs side's style and flair or............... ? ?????
I think 'SB' makes a valid point regarding Harry's age and it is probably fair to say that HR probably isn't the best one to lead us to the promise land again. We just need him to stabilise the club, then the club needs to identify a manager that will take us forward again. Probably the reason TF says it will hopefully be a two year process. Although at different ends of the scale, I can see merit in many peoples comments here, I guess with my previous comment, I'm probably guilty of not wanting to see members at each others' throats with the way things have been lately. All is good.
Ok aussie. all is good, al makese sense now Thanks for the PM think the great man used to love a good heated debate. ???
Dear Yorkshire, Unfortunately this mirrors in a far more eloquent and succint manner than I could ever achieve, exactly my feelings on the matter. I will however go one further and damn Tony for absolute incompetence throughout his tenure. Note that this is not disparaging his passion, intentions or ability to and preparedness to part with copious amounts of hard earned cash, no, this is simply incompetence that is being repeated time and again, I truly fear for all concerned and who love our club. Those that are calling for stability should remember that stabilising crap only means more crap. Tony needs to act and act now, a young up and coming manager whatever the nationality is what's called for.
I've taken a few days to mull it over and i'm in the go now camp, every interview he's given makes me even more depressed, he had enough games to get us out of the ****e and he failed miserably, i just don't think his heart is in it,he's a dinosaur we need a young forward thinking manager, Karl Robinson springs to mind, even as some have said Uri Rosler, just as long as Cotterell don't get it, he would be a disaster.
King hell Danish, we agree. I'm a big fan of Tony, but he has been mugged time and again. He's been like a kid in a sweetshop, eaten far too much and is now suffering the consequences. But his naivety, in football terms, actually cheers me up. One thing I'm not having though is these demands for 'a football person' to be installed near the top. It's 'football people' who are doing the mugging. Seems every single one of the bastards is out for what they can get, no responsibility or accountability accepted. This industry stinks. Don't trust any of them Tone. They won't be loyal to you, don't make the mistake of showing loyalty to them.
yeah, strange thread this one.....I even have Yorkie agreeing with me!!! What next? a Stan & Flyer love in ??!!
