HULL: Council leader Steve Brady says the city needs to "make the most" of Hull City's return to the Premier League.

Speaking at the first full council meeting since the Tigers earned promotion, he also paid tribute to club owner Assem Allam.

He said: "I would like to thank Dr Allam for his generosity and for pulling the club back from the brink of administration to make Hull City successful again.

"It does bring a real opportunity because we will be getting the sort of advertising you can only dream about."

Is this a olive branch to Mr Allam hope so.

Fair do's to Councillor Brady. Since he signed from Man U he's been a revelation.

Can't understand why so many people think he's a ****.

Oh, wait, wrong one........................................this one is a ****.

I saw that and my first reaction was: "Bandwagon Jumping!" but, on reflection, I hope you're right. It does look like an olive branch.....

It looks like an "oh ****e, we look like tossers, if we don't suck up to Dr Allam, we might lose votes in the next election" to me.

He's just saying what should have been said long before now. The fact its taken this long speaks volumes about him and the rest of them and doesn't strike me as genuine at all.

How can you tell a politician is lieing? Lips moving. Yeah.

The council has a big decision to make now. To sustain a premier league club the stadium really needs to be pushing up towards 35000, will they invest in the stadium expansion if they so like the exposure a premier league club brings.Or will they sell to the Allams who will invest to make the stadium and surrounding area better? Or the councils third option......do nothing and see another opportunity go begging.

Sounds like an olive branch, let hope it is, and the right deveopment of the KC can be a possibility.

Olive branch, bandwagon jumping, whatever, it appears to be a step in the right direction. Let's hope so.

Is it a fact that the KC can actually be extended to the capacity quoted or is that just a fantasy.I have heard differing rumours that a potential increase was included in the origional design but also that the east stand foundations could not sustain the increase .
It will be a bold gamble to start the work as from beginning (planning ) to finish it would probably take two years. If it was started during the season the capacity would probably be reduced thus negating the argument for an extension.Dont think it could be finished in the summer unless full access was granted to the site ie no rugby or only three stand available
Medium term stay in BPL would have to be presumed as if it was like last time we would be up and down before the extension was complete.

Would it only be the East stand which would be extended?

we do not need 35,000.It will be like a morgue for 80% of the next 60 years.Riverside with 27,000-terrible atmosphere. Will only get noisy when 5,000 away fans turn it into a home match for themselves.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but the East Stand, North Stand and South Stand are all capable of extension. Anyone who has sat in the stadium should realise that the West Stand has a wider base. The foundations of the other stands would not be affected as any extension will be behind the current seating as in the West Stand. The roof is cantilevered. I doubt that it would need the stadium to be closed for longer than six weeks to put the roof back on. A hotel could be incorporated like at Upton Park and Reading.
Personally I would build a train station, a 50m swimming pool, supermarket, squash courts, multi sports hall, research complex, sports shopping mall, industrial units, office accommodation, wind turbine, solar panel farm, gay lesbian transsexual community centre, mosque, synagogue, Mormon mission, multi secular church, sports college, university buildings, casino, night club, real ale pub, dining venue, concert hall, recording studios, language school, ice cream parlour, speedway track, Grand Prix circuit, dry ski slope and a zorbing hill.

depends what happens really. The Riverside would be full if they were in the premier. The key to it all is staying up, which is damn hard! But for the club to progress and become a sustainable business I think you need at least 30k capacity, and remain a premier league club.

What's the point of increasing the ground to 35K? We can't fill it now and FC certainly can't.

The club would look ****e with so many empty seats in view of the cameras.

If we are as successful as Swansea then we can increase the ground, but simply getting into the premier league isn't a decent enough reason.

Do you get olive trees grow in Hull?

Augusta tiger I know a bloke who helped build it, he did all the giant concrete posts that hold the place up, he said its designed and built in a way to make extending it a piece of piss and should hardly take any time at all. He explained how, the whole thing sort of slides up, can't remember exactly how.

On a side note wasn't the KC supposed to be built by all local contractors?

Excellent post and I can't see any reason why ALL of the above can't be accommodated.

    Just a couple of points;

    1. You forgot to mention an Amish church, just an oversight on your part I 'm sure.

    2. I do not know what zorbing is.

A 9 hole pitch and put wouldn't go amiss either. A full 18 hole course would have been preferable but I don't think there would be enough room?

Carmine I can't believe you've never heard of zorbing! Do your kids live a sheltered life?
