Tonight's Standard "Barton fears his Marseilles dream is over as QPR want him back for the Championship". Only one possible response to that...
These goats just heard the news too:
As it stands in his position we have Jenas, Granero, Faurlin, Mbia, Diakite and Derry. In the Championship I'd have him over any of them.
Would he? We shouldn't be asking that of a highly paid professional under contract. We know he doesn't want to because he's mentioned it once or twice.
Of course we need him and he should be welcomed with open arms. After the season we've had, what with the poor performances, division in the dressing room, allegation of rape against our best striker, our highly paid mono-browed full-back believing he's bigger than the club, players not bothering to turn up for training, Fernandes' love of the Twitter and general media spotlight, Redknapp rubbishing everything that moves... ...why, we desperately need a galvanising figure to help us on the path toward redemption and enlightenment!
He doesn't want to play for the club and is hardly the model pro arry been talking about. Lets have a team this season of players that want to be at the club not just for a paycheck but are proud to wear the shirt.
'Arry could very well come out with his usual type of statement regarding Barton...... "he's a good boy, a nice lad with lots of experience who means well and works hard, but once or twice got a bit carried away with discipline issues, so needed some time away from the club.......if I choose to bring him back here, he'll start with a clean slate, just like everyone else, and if he proves himself in training by working hard, he'll quite likely be a first choice name in my starting line-up next season."
As I understand it, Joey has no option but to return if QPR recall him- unless he breaches his contract of employment. I wonder if this is tactical by the new hard-nosed QPR management. If Joey doesn't want to come back, he can negotiate his way out of his contract with us. Could save the club a bit of dosh.
After the Man City incident, I said I never wanted to see him play for us again. But having watched the gutless, passionless crap from our current crop over the last 9 months, I would have him back right now.
