Even though our midfield is good enough would anyone like to see him on the south-coast?

Just been released by Aston Villa <ok>

Like I said on the QPR board, he'll have way more ambition than that.

I saw Ian Wright say the other day that Reo-Coker would be a useful addition to the Arsenal team. I think that explains in a nutshell why I hate him as a pundit so much.

Was a bit optimistic aha... But he has that experience <ok>

If we build we need to build for the Premier League with Premier League experienced players. Not League 1, League 2 and Championship, inexperienced rubbish <ok>

No way is he on that much. £30,000 max.

But yeah, he won't be moving down a division.

I want players who want to play for Saints, see it as an opportunity to work hard and improve under Nigel's tutelage. Don't want people who come solely for the money, think they are too good for us and just want to coast.

That's the amount he wanted from Villa. Unsurprisingly they told him to sling his hook.

Where do you think so many Premier League players start their careers? If we sign lots of experienced players now and it takes a few seasons to get up, we're paying Premier League wages in the Championship to players who may be approaching over the hill when we go up. Not the most sound strategy.

Adkins knows the leagues very well and I hear Cortese has introduced some quality scouting networks. Would be better to use those than going crazy with money. Our wage bill is already fairly sizeable as it is!

I don't think most will be, but we could well see a couple. Hardly a bad thing if they turn out like Schneiderlin + Guly.

Thats the problem in a nutshell isn't it? Reo-Coker wont sign for us. He is looking to move up from Villa, and at worst he'll be picked up by another premier league club.

Not sure how many "alot" would be, but I'm inclined to agree with you. The quality and experience is here already and I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or 2 from the SPL/abroad to supplement that. The first 11 needs very little doing to it, maybe a CB depending on Jaidi's fitness. We want a few players with talent and a willingness to prove themselves as gamechangers and cover for injuries.

Not sure what we need yet. We need to see how we perform in the Championship before spending, unless a bargain appears who will strengthen the team. Norwich didn't spend much. Their team was already good enough. How good are we? Don't know yet.
