Aside from this, back to grown up talk - I'm not keen at all on the Kevin Davies link (6 goals I think this year?), the Rhodes reports are really interesting me, I wouldn't want to see us pay more than 6-7m for ANY player this summer, and the price range on Rhodes is too fluctuant to figure out whether its gonna be a smart piece of business. Saw somebody mention Steve Harper from Newcastle as a back up, he's spent so long playing second fiddle to Given and Krul that I can't see him moving to us (or anyone in particular) unless he is guaranteed the number 1 shirt. Does anyone know when Bruce is due back in the office?

I think the PL is worse overall than back in 2010. Turner has been doing well for Norwich City this season and imo can still cut it against most teams. Forget the big boys, we need to focus on the rest. i have no doubts that Turner is the best centre back that we can bring in of proven PL quality. We all have our favs but to dismiss Turner is very unfair. The players that will move up to the PL with us are better players than back in 2008. I am not worried about the defence more like who will get the goals. I think we need to give all our defenders a chance. Many said that Dawson-Turner-Ricketts as examples would struggle. At times they did but at other times they did very well.
Saw that Stephen Ireland is free to leave Villa with 12 months left on his contract. Fallen from grace in recent years but I wonder if Bruce can work his magic like he did with Macca?
I never doubted that you would. Did they? They certainly said it about Dawson, but I think that most thought Turner and Ricketts would be fine.

I don't understand why anyone would replace Jack Hobbs with Baptiste?? Baptiste is nothing more than a capable Championship quality centre back.
baptise would be a decent freebie can play in a number of positions but would never drop Hobbs for him
