I really hope that Button can beat Vettel but second on the grid has been passed by third place at the start for the last three years, so I can see Webber passing Button at the start due to being on the better side of the track for going into the first corner, and then basically backing everyone up allowing Vettel to build a big gap so he can just control the race again.
Its inevitible Button has hardly covered himself in glory with starts recently anyway. China as an exeption. Webber can't challange Vettel so it will all be over at the first corner.
No people, dont let statistics get you down. It will not happen. Button will get past Vettel, and win the race. Atleast I can hope
A couple of these discussions seem to have been cross-threaded so I hope people won't mind me cross-referencing quotes here... Button made a smart observation yesterday that I haven't seen quoted here, which was that the McLaren is very good on mechanical grip. I think Alonso may have said the same about the Ferrari. It doesn't count for much on aero circuits where the Red Bull really flexes its muscles but in Monaco it'll be a big advantage, not just in the Button vs. Vettle battle but also Alonso vs. Webber. The crucial thing for Button and Alonso is, as Mifune indicates, that they don't lose places off the start. So, yeah: Come on, JB!
Without doubt. There is no way on earth that the nine established teams would want any more cars on the grid than was absolutely necessary. Remember the sort of damage Enrique Bernoldi did to DC's race a few years back?
I see he has not learnt from last year when Schumacher did well in Barcelona and Monaco but then service promptly resumed with Rosberg destroying him again.
Is that a new graphic - telling us what tyres the drivers are starting on? Button's got his excuse ready already.
Button is starting to match Vettel's times. Button is quicker in sector 1, slower in sector 2, and about the same in sector 3.
Button usually drops four or five seconds behind before stabilising the gap to help preserve tyres. Good move by Hamilton.
(I DONT MEAN THIS) If that move was the other way, LH would be saying "HE HIT ME GIVE HIM A ****ING PENALTY"
