Feel free to name strikers that score from corners often, there wont be many. That's the centre backs job seeing as they are usually the best in the air.

I would rather have Rhodes, but I think he may be too expensive, so therefore I think Austin is more likely.

Prime example would be Drogba vs Bayern Munich in the final. This season Carroll, Benteke, Dzeko, Crouch, Holt, Lambert and Lukaku have all scored a few from corners.

What I'm trying to say is you've got more chance of scoring from corners and set pieces when you stick big lads upfront. It doesn't matter if they are defenders or attackers.

How many goals did we score from set pieces other then goals directly from free kicks last season? About 6.

All of them Elmo/Brady crosses was crying out for a target man to bury away.

Well your point was wrong, not many strikers score often from corners. Only Carroll, Drogba, Benteke and Dzeko really score from corners. Crouch is poor in the air, Holt is not someone we should be buying and I can't remember Lukaku scoring from a corner.

Either way, we wont be attracting any players with the quality of the above players.

A good cross should not need a tall player, Owen was quite good in the air despite his size, as is Hernandez.

I'd love for us to sign a Grant Holt/ Rickie Lambert type player - Aluko up front with either of those two would be brilliant.

Regarding your last sentence, people with your attitude are the reason the national team are so ****.. You say Rhodes and Austin are overrated, probably because they're British, when they haven't even had an opportunity in the PL.

IMO 3m or under for Austin is definitely worth it

I must admit i was disappointed in Rhodes when he played against us at the kc but he can certainly score goals, regarding Austin i thought he played well against us for Burnley but they do say his one let down is a lack of pace. Neither as done it at premier league level so its down to price and been prepared to gamble

TBH don't rate either as PL players - Austin was poor against us both home and away and never been convinced about Rhodes either (certainly not anywhere near the price Blackburn spunked on him)

Don't see the likes of Wet Spam taking a chance on either of them so if they're not good enough for them they're not good enough for us.

Ridiculous statement. If English players are good enough, then they'll get their chances in the first team as there'll always be a preference towards them. Maybe we should blame the academy's in England, you know like City's awful one. At the end of the day, only the top clubs and a select few lower down are willing to spend money and put effort into their academy.

Are you telling me you'd rather City pay more money for English players instead of getting a foreign player just as good, if not better for a lower price?
