I really do fear for the future of our country. In 20 years our newspapers are going to be plastered with images of footballer's children, with names like Kai, Klay, Cruz and Harper-Seven, with unlimited money, no grasp of reality, and no need for education. It makes me weep.
At least the musical types generally attempt to give their children some form of cultural upbringing... I fear with these footballer's kids its going to be pure materialism and tabloidery.
Perhaps, but at least there's a chance they (Stoke) will go down playing football as opposed to rugby.
Some of the kids will end up being mislead, but you'd hope that a lot of these ultra-rich players have enough common sense to buy their offspring a top education. Whether they use it or not remains to be seen.
He personally signed for the Dismissal Notice with his comments following the Pigs Head prank. Basically admitted that the was inappropriate stuff going on and that he knew, but 'left them to it'. Just not acceptable in this day and age.
Unfortunately buying a top education is no guarantee of getting a top attitude. Look at Lineker's son, has been given every opportunity in life, sent to a good school, flunked his exams and now pissing his dad's money away in night-clubs.
Dunno, you'd think Gary Lineker would be a pretty good role model - exemplary playing career and disciplinary record and has made a good career in media post-football, he works fairly hard with the amount of BBC stuff he does.
Top 5 Wenger - 16 years, 232 days Pardew - 2 years, 163 days Allardyce - 1 year, 354 days Jol - 1 year, 348 days Rodgers - 354 days
Yes I agree - I meant footballers in general. Not an ideal role model in terms of family matters though (although I don't really know much about why his marriage failed - but I might have a clue)
To be fair to the little sprog he did change his name as soon as he could to Duncan Jones and went on to direct (and develop the original story) the absolutely brilliant film, 'Moon'.
Exactly. There's a big difference between naming your child on some drug-induced whim and surfing mindlessly onto whatever the latest trend is. Druggy whimsy isn't so great for your brain, but does your soul no harm. Enthusiasm about media trends is possible only for those who lack souls.
Actually he didn't - his birth name is Duncan Zowie Haywood Jones (who happened to direct the rather excellent films Moon and Source Code)
