The table is going to be like this if woodwork hits were goals. 1.Manchester United 2.Manchester City. 3.Tottenham. 4.Liverpool. 5.Arsenal. 6.Chelsea. Source:http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/3...om/en-GB/blogs/world-of-sport/table200513.png
not really a fan of these type of stats, for me hitting the woodwork it just means you wasn't good enough and couldn't hit the target, so as far as i am concerned your own fault, no excuses. goes to show i was right about saying that us and Spurs could just as easily replace Chelsea and Arsenal though with a few key players and maybe a bit more luck or better finishers in front of goal. be interesting one to call for next season who finishes where.
Agree. However it is interesting to see how off we would be if we were more clinical. Also, we have significantly improved upon last season
True. But in a similar way, if we had outscored our opponents in the thirty-eight league games we would have gained 114pts and become the greatest side there has ever been. It is all ifs and buts
Utter nonsense, as it ignores the fact that goals change games & woodwork hits for or against could have altered the course of the games concerned. Plus, at the end of the day a woodwork hit is either an off target effort, or the result of goalkeepers save, that's resulted in the post being hit. Taking each one of these events as 'goals' whilst ignoring the shots that whistled inches wide, or magnificent goalkeepers saves, etc etc, is ridiculous tbh.
it's just some stats I don't think the OP of it or anyone else makes much of it. It's not as if we think we should be 4th only for the post, hitting the post is off target so if we are really gonna get worked up about it so, OP why don't we include all shots off target as goals and where it leaves us in the league if only just to annoy BB a bit more
I agree this is just wishful thinking and psychological soothing of brusied ego. If you can't accept 7th and want to avoid dealing with being ****E the play this game. Me I see we are 7th, I know we are ****e as a result compared to where i want LFC to be but i'm not going to fantasise that paint on a post denied us... anything bad look at ourselves IMO.
I first saw this table posted by a United fan on twitter so..... It's like every other nonsense stat. Always reminds me of the 20 second debate from tv commentators about the what if the player hadn't been blown up for offside....err he was! this line of conversation is a waste of your time & my ears. By all means debate if it was a correct decision but not the imaginary continuation of a run followed by the imaginary shot blasted past the keeper that he didn't save in the said imaginary world. Rant complete. But we've all had a wee discussion this morning so job well done to the OP: kind of the point of the forum & nice tasty bait lol.....
LOL - Owned!! I love how BB actually takes the OP very seriously - anything to give him an excuse to criticise LFC and fans.
It wasn't an insult, it was a statement of fact & no I'm not......... Boom tish, I'm here all week folks...
yeah less of the insults... play nice. I merely hold LFC to the highest standards even if those standards last applied in 1990. if those are unrealistic now fine, but i'm not dropping them so fellow LFC fans should realise when i comment i merely wish the best for the club and comment based on achieving those standards
