Given Howson's last couple of performances I can't see him dropping down to the Championship. He didn't kick on this season as we had hoped due to a combination of not enough game time and being played in a postion which did not suit his abilities. Personally I still think that he will kick on and develop into a top player but that all depends on him being given the chance. Of our other ex-Leeds Snod has been consistently excellent and Johnson IMO our most improved player this season. Becchio hasn't been given much of a chance but I have been impressed with what I have seen.

I look forward to seeing how well young Sam fits in when he joins us making it five in five transfer windows plus three consecutive players of the season.

We'll see. I think our scouts must have family in Yorkshire.

Seriously though he looks a decent prospect but could probably do with another Champ season under his belt to devlop.

I do think that it is a sorry state of affairs when a mid-table Prem club is pretty much able to pick the bones off a large, well supported Champ club simply because Sky have thrown so much money at the top division. Not good for the long term future of the game but I am really glad we have managed to hang on in the Prem for another season to keep us on the right side of the have's and have not's divide.

Best of luck for next season and it would be nice to see you up in the Prem again even though it would mean we probably couldn't keep poaching your players!

Yea I agree he could do with another season in the champ, not ready for the step-up imo. Although I said early season that he wasn't ready to be playing every single game so what do I know <laugh>

But then I said the same about Howson, although I rated him as our best player at the time he moved too early, he needed at least another season in the championship and I almost feel like his career might go to waste now because of the poor timing of his transfer.

    Why do you feel that?

The lad is playing premiership football on a regular basis, is at a stable, apparently well run club and training with premier league players.

Seems like his career is doing nicely and is on track to get better and better.

Not really on a regular basis though, remember a lot of his appearances are off the bench. And I think next season, if they do have this money that Norwich fans seem to think they'll have then he won't get many games at all. He has looked weak whenever I have watched him, their fans rate Johnson over him

He has played in 33 games, 8 as a sub since he signed for them in January 2012 in the Prem. In the current season he played in 30 games. Even if all subs were this season that means he started in 22 and was a sub in 8. Safe assumption that he may have been injured for some that he did not appear in. Thats not so bad.

If you have better data than that, I am open to be corrected.

I think he is doing just fine and at least better than he most likely would have done had he remained with us.

    Sad but true!

Finally many predicted our alumni would be sorry for the decisions they made as we passed them on our way up and theirs down. What say you/them all now?

This is also an opportune time to wish Jonny Howson a very happy birthday!

If Norwich use him in the Hoolahan role he will thrive.

I didnt realise he had played that much to be honest. I've watched them around 7 or 8 times this season and Howson has only started two of them. One of them he was awful and truly outclassed, it was almost embarrassing to say that he used to be one of if not the best player we had and that was against Liverpool from memory. The other was against Man City which for me he was easily man of the match which seems to remind me of his somewhat inconsistent performances when he plays a normal box-to-box CM. He should be playing in that hoolahan role because that is easily his best position and he has proved that before, they don't really seem to consider him for that role and even on the norwich board they don't even know thats where he mainly played for us when he was playing well that is. I reckon next season especially when RVW comes in for them he won't ever get the chance to play there and I can see him dropping down the pecking order considering he is inconsistent at CM.

Still, he has played more than I realised
