Sounds a smart bit of business. Taking all the lucrative contracts (England, Man City) and leaving the iconic brand high and dry for another firm to pick up.

Must say though our Umbro 2008-2009 kit was the best of recent times.

The England contract isn't lucrative, it's so expensive that you can't flog enough replica kits to cover the costs, it's just advertising.

They did very well getting rid of Umbro, it's been losing money for years and even Nike couldn't turn it round, yet they still managed to get £137m for it, despite sales being 20% lower than when they bought it(they bought it for £363m).

    How would you know that?

EDIT: Never mind I did a Google. Looks too much like this season's awful Liverpool kit. I prefer the white. It will look really nice with long sleeves.

    This is the benchmark kit.

Clean, simple and unmistakeable. In no way resembling some darts player's leisure shirt.

The second best England shirt ever.

    Nothing can beat it's counterpart:

I'd like to see us wearing Germany's kit (with Germanys players in it) then we might stand a chance in one of these tournaments. Hope to see a City player make an England debut soon, my monies are on Chester or Hobbs (don't laugh- if Caulker can play for England, and the likes of Upson then why not Hobbs- he could improve again this year)

i don't love the new kits but i think there's a little contradiction here...

some are saying it's too plain and looks too cheap...

and then some are saying the 66 kits were the best... yet those were essentially long sleeved cotton t-shirts with a crest (=cheapest + plainest)

and I honestly think the new away is very smart, it does look like a simple polo but I like it.

    cheapest means worst?

Maybe it means less of a rip off.

Give me cotton over a £45 piece of synthetic tat knocked up in a Bangladesh sweatshop and which will combust into nothing in 0.4 sec.

Yeh but you're still spend £45 on cotton tshirt.

I'm just saying people are saying it's too plain yet the plainest shirt in our existence is considered to be the best :S
