We would still need to have attracted 7,500 non season tickets holders in 2012-13 who each bought 2 tickets to have sold 15,000 tickets on the Saturday. And why was this chap I know able to buy 2 tickets yesterday when the last match he went to had Malky in charge of Watford? Did Ticketmaster get the criteria wrong?
amazing that we've managed to sell out! Well done all, though i do think, in amongst the thousands of Watford fans, there are fans of other clubs just there for the spectacle. Shame that. There are fans of Watford who still want tickets, and some fans who couldn't even get seats together with their friends last Wednesday (did i mention that before? )
Vic, I reckon there could 7,500 non-season ticket holders who've turned up for a game this season. That's still less than the number of season ticket holders and you only needed to have turned up for 1 game. Think about attendances around Christmas or the £10 matches. Not sure about your mate who hasn't been for a couple of years though!
Only wheelchair tickets left but I can't get through on the phone number- 'busy try later'. Will the rest of you get off the line please??? Grrr.
Careful gordon of the phone bill you will get with repeated calls! a lot of hornets have been stung by ticketmaster £30 -£40 plus Ring corporate and act dumb and you might be able to queue hop
I got through. I still can't order til tomorrow because I haven't bought tickets this season- so they are still in theory applying that restriction until tomorrow morning. Three bits of good news though- 1: plenty of wheelchair spaces left 2: I get to take my carer with me, so Mrs GG can come. 3: I found my fan card which I thought I'd lost, so didn't have to go through any rigmarole about convincing them I'm a genuine Hornet. OK so Mrs GG is Ipswich Town but she's been to the Vic many a time and came to Wembley in 1984. She's family, I hope you would all agree. I wasn't getting too excited- until now. Wasn't sure whether I could physically manage it anyway, and felt I was playing it cool by waiting my turn as asked. Then when I saw we were sold out I had the horrors and realised how much I have got to be there. Now I'm, completely on tenterhooks. Arrgghhh!!!
My son hasn't been for 2 years but has now asked to come. I was dreading the same questions about players but to his credit, he has studied up on Watford in the last few days. He has even asked to come back to the home games next season regardless of division! Sad thing is that in a year or 2 he will be wanting to go with his mates and not me!!
Mt 92 year old mother, a lifelong supporter, asked about coming.... I must admit to suggesting she watch from home... I couldn't bear the hassle! I actually am of the belief that if there are places anyone who wants to should come... we need to increase attendances and we have to attract people to start coming or to come back....... (I know there are debates about who gets a ticket when they are limited)...
I'm not saying these people shouldn't come - I just didn't think this game should have been her first ever Watford match when tickets could be so limited. I fully intend to get her to become a Watford fan, and intend to take her to a few next season. I encourage anyone to bring along a friend to Watford games. I just know I would have had a few beers, and didn't want the constant questions while trying to enjoy such a big game!
I sort of agree Kev..... but what a match to be the basis for starting supporting us..... if of course there are tickets...
Totally agree. And to be fair anyone who didn't go to any games for a couple of years cannot complain too much (though if they do I won't criticise). If i leave a lottery syndicate and they win 3 years later i can't claim part of the jackpot.
I still think the club is hamstrung by ground location, traffic and parking problems and a less than supportive council... not to mention some of the somewhat dubious characters we've had at the top end of OUR CLUB (we, the fans, the ones with "yellow" blood) until recently. It is a right royal pain in the arse to get into and out of Watford (I did not renew my Sarries season ticket years ago for that reason, once a fortnight is more than enough ta very...) and we missed the boat with not buying the Reeds land and having quick road links to the M1 and M25 or elsewhere out of town. The support is here, it will likely remain untapped alas.
We were never given the chance by the "less than supportive council" to buy the Reeds Orphanage site. They had earmarked the Reeds land for new housing years before we tried to buy it (around 1978 I believe) - there were rumours of backhanders from the developers to council officials - all unproven of course! This reason (and others) is what pissed Elton John off, poisoned the relationship between the council and the club for years after and led to the decision to improve Vicarage Road rather than relocate. In the 90s with an improved relationship it would have been possible to buy land at the old Leavesden Aerodrome. Unfortunately the ideal site was partly in Three Rivers Council land and our friends from Chorleywood and Ricky were not interested in a common football club......so now we have a Harry Potter theme park!
I bow to your superior knowledge on Reeds, and wholeheartedly agree about TRDC... even Oxhey Jet's have had a battle or two with them over playing facilities.
We're in!!! Yee-haa!! Block 107 which is the north west corner immediately above the vehicle tunnel. Hello! Hello! Gordon is back, Gordon is back! And Ruth gets in free as my carer. How good is that? Blue badge parking £17.50. Can't complain really, at least it's there, but they do have me over a barrel on that one. We have 2 seats in the car (3 if we put the middle back seat back in). Anyone coming in from MK need a lift, let me know. Door to door service, assuming you're not too far off our track. Split the parking? Can't believe this is happening.
