No the A27 is a nightmare around Arundel and Worthing at times but you have a great point ... no doubt he is looking for out now. Harold was never one of us and never QPR
Even I ran out of patience with MH Dave. It was obvious he had lost the dressing room after the Southampton home game.
Harry is speaking entirely out of self interest. Everyone already knows we want to clear out a lot of dead wood and troublemakers. Everyone also knows that TF Arry and the rest of the board have met up to discuss and categorise the players they want rid of and a few mentions of who they want to bring in Everyone also knows that the process of clear out is beginning now. Some we may get money for (eg Cesar) and others are let go for free (eg Bosingwa). So all Arry is doing is regurgitating old news to protect his reputation after a horrendous run of results and performances by any standards. Unless he shuts up and lets the process run its course I would rather he resigns. This club has enough negativity around it at the moment and every time he opens his mouth he heaps loads more on to us.
I think that as far as MH was concerned, the players that he brought in on massive wages could do no wrong and that is when the rot started. Harry inherited a club that was aleady at its knees and if he had gone in and sacked half the squad even though they deserved it then he wouldn't have had enough players to fulfil the fixtures and so he was stuck with what he had. Now though, the opportunity is there to get rid of the hangers on. Hopefully at least some we can sell, others let go on a free and any that are left which Harry sees as a waste of space we can buy off.
Wow, Mr Redknapp really has got under the skin of many on here. I agree there is some arse covering going on but I don't imagine it would be any different if any of the other top managers in the game (or in any other walk of life) ended up in the situation he inherited. He's had to stand by with his hands tied while a group of players with ludicrous contracts have basically given up after the first few games and decided to have a year's paid sabbatical at QPR's expense. I will condemn him if only he walks away without having a go at clearing up the mess.
Thats 3 managers now that have had problems with the players, we need to get rid of them, even if we have to buy and sell 15 players. Harry said he needs to get rid of a "group" its either the Frenchies or the new players on big wages. Seeing as hes publicly said he wants to keep Zamora and Johnson, the Frenchies must be the problem, we know Mbia and Diakite are mental. Remy isnt a Saint, Taarabt has his problems and only Traore can be considered professional. Unless a new billy big bollocks group has formed with Bosingwa, Hoilett etc.
I will condemn him if he does nothing all summer and then leaves us in the window or after leaving us with the same problem next season. The only way he can come out of it with any credit is resign now or sort out the problem players. Not give it a half arsed effort and then give up.
This is a point that it seems you don’t understand and in Harry’s case he is deliberately overlooking which is dangerous considering his track record at Pompey it is clear he doesn’t really worry about what the owners can afford. Here is a rough summary of payers likely to see the door. Left out likes of Granero as I think he will go and we will get some money for him. Bosingwa- 2 years @ £60,000 = £6,240,000 SWP- 1 year @ £40,000= £ 2,080,000 Mbia- 1 year @ £40,000 = £2,080,000 Cesar 2 years @ £90,000 = £9,360,000 Park 2 years @ £70,000 = £7,280,000 Diakite 3 years @ £40,000 = £6,240,000 Barton 1 year @ £60,000 = £3,120,000 Total contractually owed amongst these 6 players = £36,400,000 Now this is a conservative estimate on wages and contract length. If we were to follow your suggestion which Arrys also hints at of using pay offs it would be financial madness. Just averaging a 40% pay off on the numbers shown above would mean forking out £14,560,000 just on releasing players!!!! The cost of keepig these players for one full year would be jsut £20,800,000 so we really need to consider the financial implications of paying off players to leave and the precendent this sets in seperate negotiations. Harry needs to understand this whether he likes it or not. For me our only option is to stand firm. TF has said so much commenting on his anger at players he has paid loads of money getting the club relegated and then wanting a pay off to help them leave. We have to say to the players either you stay or you leave provided we accept fee that is being offered (if there is one a lot may be free transfers eg Bosingwa or Barton).
Harold knew the job and if he had any sense then he would have sorted out any of the problems to start with ... He took over a team that was not getting results but IMO was playing some strong football but i agree only in patches and the Saints game tipped the balance for the majority ... I am still in the minority, I understand that but look at the games and consider now what sort of football we were playing then and compare it to how we finished 1-3 Southampton ... poor of course and Hughes last game Stoke 1-0 ... sorry again but we out shot stoke and didn't take our chances IMO should of got a point 1-1 Reading ... well a missed opp for sure as we were clearly a lot better than Reading who had to raise their game just to match us ... bad result however Arsenal 1-0 ... "It was a good game overall. We played against a QPR side which has quality. not my words but Arsenes ... and was a few minutes away from a great point against a team in the Champions League ..Mbia sending off cost us but we were very organised 1-1 Everton ... We had the better of a very good team IMO and was matching them all over the park but again in spells West Brom 3-2 ... Two great goals for us ... defensive cocks up an sorry but we played well again in spells 1-2 West Ham ... Well good grief this was a nightmare game after three minutes a fluke goal and we were dreadful on MNF but then Back came Adel and we nearly recovered with 10 men against a resilient West Ham team that all got booked I think? Tottenham 2-1 ... Well IMO we were fantastic at WHL and looked every bit Spurs equal ... Faurlin lost a load of confidence that day but we looked a very good side 0-0 Chelsea ... We stopped a flying Chelsea in their tracks and our midfield of Faurlin and Granero were outstanding Man City 3-1 ... Showed the same periods of good play and got back into it... I thought we were set up fine for this match and in parts did well but we weren't really expecting anything Norwich 1-1 ... Both teams recovered from thrashings and we got a point albeit lucky maybe but we looked solid as an away side IMO 0-5 Swansea ... Hill was awful that day IMO and the scoreline albeit bad didn't reflect the full story ... we were too open by far to the counter attack but had enough of the first phrase of the game to get level ... of course we completely folded after the second goal ... I certainly wash't panicking and how has Harold improved things? ... too many posters on here and fans ate the hype IMO and as with Football Hughes was gone ... I ask anyone on here ... where was the un rest? we were growing IMO and playing good enough to turn this around
Bosingwa- 2 years @ £60,000 = £6,240,000 - Will have trouble shifting him, hopefully to turkey SWP- 1 year @ £40,000= £ 2,080,000 - No chance of getting rid Mbia- 1 year @ £40,000 = £2,080,000 - wants to leave so should be on his way Cesar 2 years @ £90,000 = £9,360,000 - wants to leave too Park 2 years @ £70,000 = £7,280,000 - brings in money so not a financial burden Diakite 3 years @ £40,000 = £6,240,000 - wants to leave so will go Barton 1 year @ £60,000 = £3,120,000 - wants to leave as well I think we are stuck with SWP and Park, both are professional so they arent the cause of the problems.
Your comment about a lot of them is. ‘Wants to leave, will go’ or in Boswinga’s case ‘tough to shift’. Don’t think any one is disputing that they want to leave. Point is when and if they do go how will we need to give them a pay off. If that is all okay then Harry needn’t worry and can shut his mouth. Problem is that there may be pressure to pay them off and my point was to outline the cost to benefit of this. Also your perception of the money Park brings in is very ambitious. There is a good few Koreans who have bought Park shirts but surely the majority of those with interest have now done so. Also the interest will wane now we’re in the championship. Other Koreans in bigger leagues at bigger clubs will take an increasingly large share of the lime light. The odd ticket and shirt will be bought by the visitng Koreans but £7 Million pounds worth?! Are you sure?! SWP may be a professional but he’s bloody rubbish and taking a chunk out of the wage budget
Tony has already said we arent paying players off. They can either slum it in the reserves or leave. My point is we may not be able to get rid of Park and SWP but they arent the problem at the club and keeping them is better financially than paying them off. Us touring the far east would bring in millions for us, especially next season which will be Parks last.
I've just watched HR's QPR player interview, where he was asked: "Do you want to stay Harry?" "yehh yehh sure.. Yeh we'll see what happens, you know?" See what happens? I was under the impression he'd already committed his future to the club.
Here's a video of part of the interview. I can't seem to embed it into this post
As others have said, thats confirmation to me that hes already planning his exit. He will want to get paid over the summer for doing nothing and then either retire or get a PL job.
I think even SWP might be able to do a job in the NPC, its just that they are well overpaid which isnt the immediate problem, thats getting rid of the players who dont give a **** and are taking the piss.
Redknapp did nothing for QPR except draw down a nice fat pay cheque and complain about how difficult his job is. Rather than complain about the squad he could have read the riot act and dropped the troublemakers however big their names. If he had acted quickly and decisively you had every chance of staying up given how many poor teams are in the bottom half of the league but he didn't and has repeatedly damaged your fragile morale by airing the dirty laundry in public. A good manager would have acted tough, Harry just talked a good game and did not do enough with the considerable resources at his disposal. I am no fan of Colin's but I reckon you'd have had a better chance with him than Harry. He'll either leave in a huff citing lack of support from the board or be given a fat transfer budget and do well in the Championship further enhancing his reputation so he can't lose either way.
