Morning all Coffee drunk...cleaning and tidying done...fizz in the fridge...just awaiting the arrival of my brother from Australia in the next half hour or so. He's just dropped his wife off in London and is on the way here with £100 of fresh English cash in his pocket saying he's looking forward to strolling to a country pub for a pint or two. I said the inflation rate here is not quite that bad...yet!
True - but he will need more than a Glint of Silver. By the way - I knew I had seen that title somewhere before. Was rummaging through my record collection this morning and found an album of that very name. Spent a peaceful hour reading and listening to Silly Wizard.
He might get a wide embrace on the doorstep though Never heard of Silly Wizard...except they do come up if you enter The Wide Embrace on Amazon. Are they any good? I was thinking of calling the book 'Great Expectations' but apparently someone else got there first!
Afternoon all, just a break from a busy day of sightseeing and the internet is clinging on by it's toenails. Yesterday went to the last town in France and the first in Spain. I never realised that their railways operate with two different gauges until I read a notice by an old Spanish frieght wagon. It seems that up until the 1960's there were 5,000 people employed at the station taking goods out of one wagon and carrying it to a different one. These days they have adjustable axles to allow for the difference. Just thought I would pass that on.
I think so, but then I'm biased. They were a Scottish Folk Band of some renown - up here anyway, and in Australia.
Afternoon all from a cloudy but dry Jersey. We had a strange weekend weather wise - sunny and hot on Saturday, then rained for just about all of yesterday. Pretty quiet start to the work week but will get busier as I have 2 monthly reports to be completed for review by Thursday. (That was a condition to enable me to get next Tuesday off for return travel)
Only another 1000 words to sort today..... finger crossed .... keep spacing out on this and other sites though!
Leicester clear-out starting? http://www.queenslandtelegraph.com/breaking-cqfc-energy-appoint-new-coach-from-uk/ I suspect that this guy has absolutely no idea what he is getting into.......
No - just completely different from what he would be used to in Leicester. Amateur players, small stadium, small crowds - would be lucky to get 500 for home games - limited training facilities. The situation he is going into is almost the opposite of the Watford/Saracens set up - the stadium belongs to the local rugby club. Plus, football is about fourth in the popularity stakes in the town - behind League, Union and Hockey and on a par with Aussie Rules. Which means a lot in a town of 60,000.
Drove down to Guildford today - signed agreement on a rented house - seems like moving back to England is the only way to get proper medical treatment - hopefully at the Royal Marsden Sutton Hospital. Our house has gone on the market here.
