They already have 83-86. I reckon top ten myself, wont be too disappointed to spend a couple of years here as long as we can see forward momentum on and off the pitch, I'm sure once SoD gets in the players he needs we'll see a far better style of football than we've become accustomed to over the last four or five years. As for comments of " it took us nine years last time blah blah blah " they bear no relation, just because it happened before does not automatically mean it may happen again.
I too think we'll do well to be in the playoff places at the end of the season. People seem to forget just how bad we were this season. Aside from the start of the season we've been awful, and we finished dead last by a large margin. We had absolutely no hope this season, and we were far from League 1 quality. If we play like we did this season I fear another relegation battle. I think SOD will ensure that we hit the top ten, but unless Lansdown has a change of heart and starts investing in the squad to make the club more attractive to the fans I think we'll struggle this season.
They already did this a couple of years after City slid from 1st to 4th in consecutive seasons in the 1980's. However what they did do was to win consecutive promotions from 4th to 2nd in 1987-88 / 1988-89. That is the difference. As I keep repeating ad infinitum, City take 5 to 10 years to win promotion after relegation.
Perhaps this will be the season they brake that voodoo and win promotion at the first time of asking.
On paper you'd have to say that we should end up top 6, along with the likes of Sheff U, Wolves, Swindon and Peterboro. But it all depends on who we can get in over the summer, and how fast SOD can get them to gel as a team and play the way that he wants. Sorry, but I don't agree with anyone who says it'll be easy - I remember many relegations over the years and the struggle to get back up. I'd like to say we could do a Peterboro, but I can't see it. I'd expect a top half finish, and if we're lucky, a push for a play-off place. If you offered me 6th right now I'd bite your hand off.
Can we please wait til we see what squad we have before trying to guess where we will finish next season if we end up with much the same squad we have atm half way up the table would be an achievement.
Sorry Shiny, I can't resist; The expression is "Break that hoodoo". Nothing to do with slowing down a witch doctor.
No Red Robin, just being totally and unequivocally realistic. Surely you realise it's been hammered into all City fans over the years that we never achieve what we should. In which case, how come you have managed to still believe we will achieve the imposssible?
Fickle means a change in affection, I don't think any of us have changed our feelings towards City by saying that we don't think we will be in the top few places. Said it before, we need patience this rebuild won't happen immediately if it does brilliant but I doubt it. If we don't get a flying start, or get top 2 will people be saying sack SoD? Now that would be fickle.
I normally ignore the spelling mistakes although some take an age to decipher and others are just funny. I'll apologise to Shiny if he gets pissy about it.
well it will certainly do my head in for a couple of hours................ I think at this moment in time BCFC WILL possibly finish in the top 6 ...maybe 8 Oldham Swindon .....6th to 12th top 3 from possibly Wolves if they get their act together, Peterbro, Sheff utd Coventry and Gillingham with Di Canio Swindon would have been a championship club
