That the FA didn't think was worth us even talking to the rest of them about playing in. It would seem that the fans don't care either, 90 odd seats available per fan in Belfast tonight. Northern Ireland vs Wales 50,000 seater stadium Attendance: 529
They can't have expected to amass a full crowd for a Wales vs N.Ireland match, in the republic of ireland capital? Why not have a home and away leg kinda thing, or is it for the stadium?
The whole thing's been a disaster, the games have been rubbish, the crowds have been rubbish, they can't do a home nations without England.
Let's be honest, Northern Ireland took 6,000 fans to Hampden Park in February, but the home support was **** (quantity wise). It's hardly surprising that Wales, a miniscule country with a miniscule population and ****e national team, didn't sell many tickets. Nor is it surprising that Northern Ireland (an equally small country) fans weren't willing to risk their lives travelling through Eire to Dublin, whilst also buying tickets that will help fund the Republic's debts on the Aviva stadium.
I haven't got a clue! I bet Carling are pissed off! What annoys me is that Carling was a Tyke as well, so they obviously think it's OK to take money off an English sponsor!
Should have played it in America, this place has more Irish and Welsh people than Ireland and Wales would have been a sellout
Northern Irish fans are boycotting matches due to the Republic of Ireland calling up there players. If you are born in Northern Ireland you can play for the Republic as well but if you are born in the Republic you can't play for Northern Ireland. Which is pretty unfair to Northern Ireland http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/o...hing-to-blame-for-stayaway-fans-16004111.html
You know it's about time Ireland had just one football team, the days of the troubles should be long gone. People in the ROI did'nt want to be pushed around by westminster but now they are being pushed around by Brussels! If you are born in Belfast, Dublin, Derry or Cork or Donegal for that matter that makes you Irish in my eyes and should be able to play for your national side. I know I'm over simplifying the problem here but jesus christ in this day and age can't we all just try and get along and at least kick a football around on a piece of grass without it being an insult to our ancestors if we give an inch! I know the unionists think that a in a united Ireland they might get the short end of the stick being in a minority and given the history, but I happen to have faith in the young people of today and I believe given time good sense will prevail and the sectarianism would just die out. Owww look at me getting all political
You've been in America too long. It's nothing to do with getting the short end of it in a unified Ireland. It's the fact they were born in Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom and regard themselves as British and wish to live in the country they were born in. Rather than the sectarianism dying down declaring it a unified Ireland would stir it all up again as the unionist groups and pissed off civilians took it out on their Catholic counterparts for taking away their country. On a similar thing though, to everyone down south we're from Humberside so we might as well go back to that instead of being Hull and ERoY?
Doubt the troubles would cease even if there was a united Ireland team. Can't see how the rugby scenario works with the football because football is the most popular sport, and there's hardly any northerners playing for the united Ireland RU team. If i was an Ulsterman i wouldn't be happy having to stand while the Republics anthem is being played and nor would i like GSTQ being played if i was a Southern Irishman. It's engrained.
I saw somewhwere that Northern Ireland had sold 66 tickets before the match, and that 200+ Scotland fans had received free tickets for some reason.
Thats my whole point they were born in Ireland! and they can live in the country they were born in FFS. Anybody born in Ireland should be Irish how fecking stupid do you have to be to not understand that statement! Do you know how many americans there would be if they all traced back their roots and held a grudge? You tell me one single other country in the world that traces it's roots that far back and says oh no we are not the same as them! The "i believe we should back them ulstermen because the like to sing god save the queen" bunch make me sick to be honest. Jesus H Christ in a handbasket, the fecking Berlin wall came down, apartheid dissapeared from south Africa, and China is Americas closest trading partner and we can't figure a way to sort out a few fecking chavs in Ireland that want to act like Millwall supporters. The troubles are over there aint no difference between us give it up a united Ireland is the only way forward ask yoursel this question "why the feck do them unionists want to stay part of the UK?" They would still live in the same town with the same jobs, it's not like Adolf would come marching down the Falls Road burning books and breaking windows. It's 2011 people time to change your ideas a bit
Also The united kingdom is just something somebody made up! They want to regard themselves as residents of the british isles thats fine too and nobody is saying they cant live in the country they were born in! The humberside reference is just plain silly Ricardo but even if everybody wanted to say we live in humberside, what the feck difference would that make! I mean really think about it for a few minutes what difference does it make to you what they call the piece of ground your home is on!!!!
