I would normally disagree with buying so many players, but we desperately need that many. Our bench today proves it. But we need to buy the right players, and avoid what QPR did this season.
same mate and this is definitely make or break for us I think there will be 3 or 4 bosman deals seems as though for the last month we have been linked with Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite, Diogo Vianna and El Hadji Ba on a regular basis and now we are getting linked to another in the form of Mauro Zarate I was reading an article on Diakite earlier from an apparent Italian expert on why Diakite would be a good signing for us and he sounded just what we need
A huge difference between what he wants and what he will get. I still believe it will be nearer 5 than 10 at most.
Must be quality over quantity. We have a lot of dross at the moment, no point in buying more of the same
Luckily a lot of them are coming to the end of their contracts. To be honest all you do is say sorry X your not wanted by the club, you should get your agent to find you a new club quickly otherwise you will not be playing football this season and you will be training with the kids.
Agreed! We are going to need these players if we're to have a full compliment of 25 come the start of next season. Didn't Steve Bruce sign something like 11-12 players in one transfer window when he was in charge?
Maybe 3-4 players you would expect to go straight into the first team, another 2-3 that would be young-uns on the fringes (reserves/youth team) who would learn from the offset the way Paulo wants them to be in terms of attitude and so forth that could be molded to design. A lot can be said of Di Canio's admirable passion & determination but i honestly don't doubt that he has a damn good level of intellect to go with them.
Doubt we will sign that many if only because Ellis has seen that sort of attitude in the past with feck all to show for it. That said, i'm sure he knows and wants, us to improve - otherwise he'd have stuck with O'Neill. I'm confident we'll have revolution under PDC, but that will mostly come from raising the game of some of our current lot. A bit of the right new blood will spur on the rest of them
There will be 5 or 6 going out by the sounds of things so those need replacing and given the lack of depth in the squad at the present time another couple on top of that are needed, therefore 7 or 8 new faces would be my guess
Our squad is paper thin and with more leaving we realistically need 10-12 new players. I know it's not good making that many changes but we have no choice. I think if we do sign 10+ players 4-5 of them will be Bosman signings. Either way we are in for a interesting summer.
What we need us a full rebuild of the first team barring 3/4, we need to buy quality players who will go straight into that first eleven. That is what we need, what we'll get is a different matter. As most have said 4/5 in the Summer then, possibly a couple at Christmas. Also think that we'll be getting in freebies just hope they aren't ageing crocks who will fill the physios room.
How many are out of contract guys ? I think there is definitely a core of about 16 we'll need to keep a hold of. This includes the first team starters, cover players and the kids who are breaking through to the bench. Other than that, I reckon we will be getting 4 or 5 Bosman's and spend around 50m on 4 or 5 quality new first teamer's. It'll be interesting to watch his reputation attract these new faces, that's for sure, and it looks like these players will be on board sooner rather than later !
Just Killa and Bardsley mate http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...9/Out-of-contract-Premier-League-players.html
Last manager that signed that amount of players was Mick McCarthy - and we all know what happened there
