A rather disingenuous comment.Parky is a good Manager but a lot of Charlton fans didn't give him a chance as he was always associated with Big nose.
Didn't give him a chance? How much of a chance do you want? He got us relegated, failed to get us back up then left a dispirited squad.! I know things were difficult for him, but the fans appreciated that, hence the contributions on this thread. After nearly 2 years in charge the new owners sacked him, not the fans, who never called for his head like they did with pardew.
I heard an awful lot of "PARKY OUT!" chants and "SORT IT OUT PARKY!" in the crowd, but yeah even I turned on Pardew and I think Les Reed was sacked too soon
Now that's not something many people will confess to!....... well.......... unless they are one of his players wives
I don't think PP was ever really accepted in truth. The Championship season he stood little to no chance, they threw him in and were happy to make him somewhat of a scapegoat. The first season in League One he did very well, but his football was often criticised for being boring. He was often cambasted in the stands, especially away from home. There was the infamous shouts of 4-4-2 against Orient minutes before JJ scored the equaliser, and it was proceeded by 'you don't know what you're doing'. That wasn't the only time that was sung during his tenure. But everything happens for a reason - we've gone on to have CP who has reinvented the squad and taking us up. PP has done a similar job in changing around the Bradford squad and sealing promotion.
There were certainly a lot of rumblings of discontent during the Parky era, but enough of the fans realised the constraints he was working under, and we'd had enough of sacking managers anyway, so the rumblings never escalated into the full-blooded "WE WANT pARDEW OUT WE WANT pARDEW OUT" of his predecessor.
