Apart from finishing further behind us than last season your statement is entirely true.

    AND FAILING.

Next season all that progress will end because Arsenal will be on the up, just wait and see. The only reason you've gotten closer is because of a self imposed austerity policy we have implemented on Arsenal, but now the shackles are coming of for our club to start using it's abundant resources.

Well, for me watching Spurs, the only thing I see getting better is Gareth Bale. Without him raising his contribution this year Spurs would have been much lower down.

In exactly the way that I take our own Arsenal fans to task when they suggest some of our players are hopeless and will never get better, there isn't a lot of room for Bale to get better and he could easily be worse next year.

I just don't see the reason for the optimism at Spurs at all. Yes, Bale hit a purple patch, but what else went right?

    I wouldn't say it's optimism - it's realism.

We got rid of Redknapp who, for all his faults, had Spurs playing good football - top 4 as well.
We brought in AVB who had had a torrid time at Chelsea - the media, opposition fans and a fair proportion of Spurs fans were waiting for him to slip up to say 'I told you so'
We sold Modric, Van der Vaart and lost King to retirement - these weren't adequately replaced.

With that in mind, I don't think 5th, a point off 4th with a record points tally, is actually terrible. Again - realistic. When AVB was appointed, most Spurs fans would have accepted 5th, because they weren't convinced by AVB.

If Levy releases the funds that we've been building this Summer and actually backs AVB over Summer then I don't see why we can't continue to compete and fight for top 4 next season.

That's the funniest analysis I've seen in a long time from HIAG, I'm beginning to think he might actually be a parody account? No joke. Or I think he's purposely just trolling when he writes some of that stuff.

I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt before, but the silly **** just came back with more and more outlandish bollocks. He dug a hole so deep for himself on that thread it was hilarious.

I just provided him with the spade to do it <laugh>

I like the way he says "North London football scene" like it's some sort of trendy new underground club.

It's all they know. Every loss is down to someone else & never the team/manager. I gave up pointing it out ages ago as it is all rather sad :p

The difference between Spurs and Arsenal, is that Arsenal have a plan, Spurs just keep rolling the dice trying to get the double 6.

Arsenal are building a club, getting richer, so that they can improve their chances of winning each year. Spurs just keep trying to beat the odds. So you comment on Spurs getting better when you roll an 11, but really you just failed again. Buying players like Dembele and Dempsey is not improving the team. At least buy players that have a chance of developing into superstars, even if some of them are a bust.

    There is no real "improvement".

And you know there's no plan because?? Might be harsh but you're post is just absolute rubbish. The new trainingi facilities opened this seaso weren't planned. They just suddenly turned up after rolling some dice. There are also no new plans for a stadium. Focusing more on uyouth and topping leagues for the youth teams this season was all unnecessary.

Buying players like lloris and vertonghen didn't improve our team? Buying Dembele doesn't improve the team but Giroud was a massive sign of improving the team?

Really who cares whether Bale signs or not? He won all the accolades this season, so he must have a terrific season, but he STILL could not help the spuds! I really cannot wait for that day again, when we worried about the movers and shakers in the premier league, and the only times we thought about the Spuds was on St Totteringham day!

Spuds will always have 1 good player amongst their pile of rubbish! Everyone kept saying on paper their squad is much better than ours. I really hope Wenger and co buy wisely during the next window, so we can finally put these jokers in their place! As the fact they are always within touching distance of us is getting to their heads!

Maybe there is some truth to what you say but to answer your question about who cares if bale goes, I'd sat a lot of your fans are interested seeing as there's a nice long thread about thus very topic on this board. It looks like its mentioned in other places here too.

    Obviously I care too!

Anything that weakens spurs will obviously concern Arsenal fan. I personally hope he leaves, same as everyone was saying about RVP.

Agreed you have a cracking player in Bale, what I was driving at was that, despite having a player of his calibre amongst your ranks, added to that his performances this season, your team still finished below us and out of the CL places. I remember last season, RvP almost carried us all season, and it was predicted we would suffer from his departure.

It does not really bother me whether Bale stays or not, your team has shown this season 1Bale does not make a team, Everton have Felliani, yes and? The least you would have expected was from him was to secure a cl place for you guys, with all the accolades he he got. Soon as we put a decent run together he and his team wilted!

Worst Arsenal team in the last 15 years > Best Spurs team in 50 years. The harsh reality.
