'There's no uncertainty about my position' - Pardew expects Newcastle stay

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is "100 per cent" sure he will still be in charge at St James' Park at the start of next season.

Pardew guided the Magpies to a fifth-place finish last term, keeping them in the race for Champions League qualification for the majority of the campaign.

But Newcastle have battled against relegation for much of this term, securing their safety from relegation only last Sunday with a narrow 2-1 win over doomed QPR, but Pardew is certain he will still be at the helm come August following a meeting with the board.

"There's no uncertainty about my position," Pardew told reporters. "I expect to be manager 100 per cent. It was a good lunch.

"[Owner Mike Ashley] just comes and generally has a chat, says hello to everyone and he thanked all the players for their efforts.

"We all know it has not been our greatest season but you cannot say we've not given 100 per cent. We have, and therefore have a better scenario next year and we all have to pull together. That was basically his message.

"Like all clubs, we will be sitting down again, discussing plans for next year."

Pardew signed an eight-year deal last September, but the club are on course to register their second-worst points return in the Premier League era.

If he is staying, he needs to buck his ideas up and the board need to back him. We can't be buying more cheap French players that Alan has no idea how to utilise. If Pardew stays, we need the likes of Andy Carroll. I think those going to games need to give him a fresh start as well next season, or at least not get on his back. As much as I love a good booing, it wouldn't be the time.

I actually believe he'll stay. I mean only a week ago he was saying slim Mike might decide to sack him, so to go from that to saying he's 100% certain he's staying must mean they've had some talks already and he's been assured his position his safe.
