Our away support is immense. They create a great atmosphere and due to lots of reasons we have discussed in other threads are generally younger and more vocal often than our home crowd.

Everyone has a laugh at the smoke bombs at games and the reference to Purple Aki at the derby was hilarious. However a couple of tweets after the away game at Fulham made me think. One was from a disabled lady in a wheelchair who stated she had pyro thrown over her head and was scared. Another was from a father whose son (10 yrs old if I recall correctly) had to be treated for smoke inhalation due to the pyro. Now I don't know how genuine these tweets were, they do however put a different slant on pyro perhaps?

It seems we are getting a bit of a pyro reputation and I have to say I'm not comfortable with it. Given our clubs recent PR disasters is pyro not just another stick for people to beat us with?

Interesting point. I've always thought these fireworks at games are dangerous and would be concerned with smoke at a game as both me and my son have respiratory problems.

Don't want to get all pissed at some people showing support and as long as what they're doing is safe, I wouldn't have a problem with that. The question being is it safe?

  3. I might get some stick for this but I don't liked fireworks at games, its a bit of a foreign thing so its following suit with Man City and the pozman (?). I'd put it in the same bracket as plastic flags too!

I don't understand what it has to do with showing support.

Infact, it's the most backwards thing to do really; Hey guys we're playing great and just scored - lets put out a smoke flare so we can't see the pitch anymore!

    >.>

    Just ban them.

I've always loved them tbh but there is a better way for our home fans to create an atmosphere....****ing sing. I could live without the smoke bombs etc if we could muster some noise from the whole ground at weekends. As it is at least it generates some sense of drama from the stands but for me it's a distraction from the real issue....no noise.

    combine the 2 lol.

have a few set off in the Kop dif areas, then start singing, imagine the noise coming out the smoke, be quite a site and sound i would have thought.

for me there are 3 issues here:

    1. responsibility. in general these things are dangerous. the guys doing ti are doing it for a laugh but are affecting all other away fans and potentially if something does go wrong or someone is stuck the club is in huge trouble

    2. searches... I am frankly not surprised away fans can get in most grounds without searches. keep the fireworks up and lfc will be singled out for searches before games on entry and held afterwards as well. I'm not going to be surprised if clubs take this line with us. it seems you can get just about anything into a football ground!

    3. does it make you a better supporter? I think not. our away day fans are the best fans we have cos they, unlike the home crowd which is filled with tourists, never stop singing. I'd rather they stick to singing. I'd also like the club to actually take action on people who sell thier season tickets to travel agents and try to make one end for tourists and try at least to put the singing home support together to make atmosphere. Our home fans get outsung regularly. When you see us on the tv every close up is some guy and his wife form the far east with a big camera.

    1. I don't think they are particularly dangerous tbh unless they are thrown but I get your point.

    2. As for searches...that already happens anyway mate.

    3. I agree about the singing. I'd ban any ****er seen with their chin resting on their hand for the full 90 mins <laugh> wherever they are from. One of the biggest problems for me is that half the ground nowadays just rolls in at five minutes to three, then buggers off for a piss and a pie ten minutes before the break, and ****s off five minutes before the end to "beat the traffic". If you can't commit to getting in at half 2 or sitting in a queue of traffic for fifteen minutes after the game don't bother going you miserable ****ers <ok>

know what you mean Billy <ok>

cant get over the City fans who left early last season when there team only needed to score to secure the title, what the feck is that all about!

feck the traffic, your team could win the title, why bother going if you leave ruddy early!!

I've never understood why anyone leaves a ground early. Even if you're going to lose and it's been a **** game you should stay until the end, imo.
Not keen on fireworks at all.

The only game I ever contemplated leaving early was 3-0 down to the manks and that certainly wasn't to beat the traffic <laugh>

I've had the debate many times Saint re atmosphere/lack of it and usually the ideas get more extreme as the beers flow....stewards with cattle prods for anyone not singing..The Kop adopting a few norwegian folk songs etc

The way the fireworks work in clubs such as Partizan is that the south stands are where only ultras supporters ever go. No man, child, or woman doesn't know that it's off limits to everyone who doesn't want to sing, stand, wave giant flags, get smoke in your face, and maybe even fight.

    So no one cares there.

Speaking of which, today is the Belgrade derby, where 30k fans will try to kill each other and set the stands on fire. There may even be football. Its probably worth finding a stream.

In other words, its not suitable for English football, the mentality of the fans is different.
