Waddle thinks that Beckham is not in the top 1,000. I'm in total agreement with him, the most over rated player ever.
Utter bollocks pal. Waddle is bell end anyway. Beckham had more talent in his 3rd **** of the day than Waddle could even dream of. He is one of the top 10 all time modern greats and lauded by his peers such as Zidane, Ronaldo and Iniesta as one of the greats too. Was for 3 years the entire England team on his own and one of the classiest men off the pitch too. He should be heralded up there with the Bobby Moores and Charltons as great English footballers and ambassadors. I'm a massive fan btw in case you didnt realise.
He would be in mine too ! Always gave 100% passing, crossing, free kicks superb and he could play. Don't care what they say he would be in my team and he might well be captain !
Beckham more talented than Waddle? Behave yourself! Beckham had quality but Waddle had more natural ability. Beckham made the absolute most of what he had but if we're talking talent, he's way down the list. Mid 700's
I agree with you with becks, but Waddle was one of the finest wingers in my lifetime. He oozed class.
Surely weighing up there respective accolades, beckham a country mile ahead of waddle. Waddle almost makes beckham sound sensible to, pelanty, can't even talk. Sick of hearing about becks dwindling end of career, but mega on his game and in his day.
Waddle Better then Beckham..... Ppfftttt Beckham is just class, he has took some **** from so called England fans, yet continues to give his all for our country. You can see how proud he is of our country and I love that passion. I could have said a lot more but Cest summed it up perfectly.
See, as tallented as he was i think it's his style of play that frustrated me. We've have a mediocre Beckham in Larsson. great delivery(this season aside) but can't pass a man and not good enough to play in the middle. Fine if you play narrow but i like my football with plenty of width. He'd be in my top 50 but not top 10.
beckham was never spectacular and couldnt beat his man. but you cant overlook his ability to put the ball exactly where the forward wanted it. also his dead ball delivery was second to none.
Beckham in my opinion has always been an enigma. He has never been blessed with lightening pace or fantastic dribbling skills, but there is no doubt that he has always been a winner, which his medal tally is a standing testament to..
I think that sums it up quite well. He's possibly near the all time top10 as a dead ball within range shooting chance kinda player. He's done this in big pressure games (bar the Argie penalty miss) and to have a guy who can get you a goal under those circumstances. Just like Larsson did once or twice last season.
Don't be silly IMO Becks was accurate with his crosses and dead ball delivery but for me he could not lace Bobby Moore or Bobby Charlton's boots - I wonder why arguably the greatest club manager SAF got rid?
As George Best once said "He (Beckham) cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right."
At around the age of 23 he was the best player in the country - he didn't keep that up but across his whole career he would easily make my top 100.
Although I do like Beckham as a footballer, he's nowhere near top 10. The fact that he's an advertisers dream kept him in the footballers spotlight as long as he has. America, Milan, Paris. All publicity that made him millions and put the clubs in the spotlight. Posh (nowhere near the top 1billion good looking woman by the wayand Becks had the business sense to hook onto anything that sells for a buck (or a million) and well done for that.
The stardom was greater than the ability, unquestionably, but to say he wasn't a genuinely good player is tosh. He carried England for 2 years, he scored big game goals, he made big game goals, and just the very point of him being David Beckham meant teams would often over commit to stopping him, when in reality he was never the best player in any side he played for (no shame, he played with top, top players). Waddle, since he stopped playing, comes accross as a very bitter fella, if I'm honest.
Not the best but none better at making the most of what talents he had.........or he fooled a lot of people a lot of the time. Churlish of Waddle to say he is not in the top 1000 Premier players, comes across as a sad, pathetic and bitter little man. Brings out that great British talent of knocking the few successful players we have. I consider myself lucky to have been around in his era.
