    That's a very well-reasoned post. What's it doing on here? <laugh>

Heresy! Don't you know Liverpool have been playing free flowing pass and move football since forever without a hint of caution? They invented Barcelona <ok>

It is funny that at the time, I was saying exactly that. But the miserable scousers wouldn't agree and said I was being msichievious and winding them up. I always tell the truth as far as the scousers are concerned and they do not like it...<ok>

Dalglish made real mess of the budget he was given. At the time I said the legacy of his poor buys will last a long time. The reasons is that these poor buys not only did not fit in they also were very expensive to buy and cost a lot in wages. These buys meant 1) the budget had been used up and no further funds were available for badly needed new recruits and 2) the high wages meant these players could not easily be sold. If you were a City or a Chelsea that wouldn't be a problem. A loss of £200 million is nothing and there would still be another £200million in the kitty.

Rodgers has been disappointing in that he has hardly made any progress when most top teams except for United have been inconsistent. The most damning indicator is that his performances aginst the top 10 teams have been very poor. He is not a poor manager but hardly the messiah that the miserable scousers need. <ok>

  5. Improve league position by one position and gained at least six more points which could be nine come Sunday. All after losing several established internationals and a very poor start. That's not 'hardly any progress' in a first season!

Also, you do realise that we Liverpool fans don't share one opinion don't you?

Err, not really. The problems can be traced back to 2007/08 season. We'd just bought Torres for £26.5mil (back when that was a lot of cash, not just an average striker) and an nett spend of just shy of £40mil net. Since than, until the takeover by FSG, we spend a nett over 3 seasons of minus £8 mil. We were turning a profit in the transfer market to help service Statler & Waldorf's bank loan. When you don't invest in a team for three seasons, thing inevetably start to deteriorate. Pissing Xabi off didn't help, but that previous season Xabi had been injured on and off, out of form and the manager couldn't buy without selling. Had he been in the position of having a few quid to spend, he could have bought Barry to supplement Xabi, and things may have turned out differently. But it didn't.

As for a cautious approach, in 08/09, the Redmen scored 77 under Rafa in the league, 9 more than PL winners United. So much for 'cautious'...

True, but Liverpool deteriorated a lot faster than Arsenal, Everton and Utd when they all had negative transfer spend for a few seasons. The finances didn't help, but I don't think your management really helped at the time. If you hadn't wasted all that money on Keane, Babel, Aquilani etc then you wouldn't have had to push Alonso out the door to try and bring a new player in.

Liverpool tend to outspend entire nations so not investing enough seems like an excuse forged in bullshit.

It's not the lack of investment that has deteriorated Liverpool, it's the dog **** talent they have overpaid for that has hurt them

    This.
The turnover of players has been ridiculous.
So much wasted on crap like Aquilani.
When they finally did get new owners willing to invest, they made the mistake of giving that money to Klu Klux Kenny, who blow it on absolute garbage.
£35 Million for Andy Carroll?! Thats more than Utd paid for RVP, more than Chelsea paid for Drogba. And Carroll had had half a season in the Premier League with Newcastle...was totally shocking. Mike Ashley must have reacted like those Scag heads in Trainspotting when they shift that large package of heroin for lots of cash.

Liverpool have scored the most Premier League goals since January 1 (39).

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven games (W3, D4) and have only conceded three times in their last six.

Only Arsenal and Manchester City have a better second-half record than Liverpool this season, (W17, D12, L8).

Daniel Sturridge has scored six times in his last four games. He has 10 goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances for Liverpool.

Rodgers seems to be making some progress to me <ok>

    You keep telling yourself that...<laugh>

As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You see what you want to see <ok>

From my (objective) view point, the picture is clear. Tikitaka has not made progress relative to the other top teams. All teams had their difficulties and none have been brilliant including United. All could be said to have been in some sort of transition. Have the scousers made up any of the gap between them and the top 4? The evidence is clear that they haven't. People can look at some of the stats which support their arguments. We can look at goals, at the wins in the second half of the season. But this is really not seeing the wood for the trees.

Everton have been clear and the miserable scousers did not threaten even once to overtake them.

When the scales come off their eyes, the scousers will realise that they got themselves an average mid table manager no better than fat Sam, Adkins, Pardew. It will end in tears and I am prepared to bet that by the end of next season Tikitaka will be under pressure to go....<ok>

I seem to remember similar claims about Dalglish when Liverpool had the second best form in the league for his first half a season. Remind us how that turned out again? <whistle>

And enjoyed Liverpool's worst league performance for fifty years. I doubt Arsenal, Spurs or Everton would find the Carling Cup consolation for that!
