Rickie Lambert: "It's been a terrific season so it would be nice if we could walk round with our families and thank the fans." Kelvin Davis: "To have the opportunity to walk round giving everyone our congratulations is something I'm looking forward to." Luke Shaw: "The fans have been amazing for us this season so it would be nice to we can walk around the pitch and thank them all." Morgan Schneiderlin: "It would be good to be able to go around the pitch and say thanks to the fans because they deserve it." There we have it lads, let's behave ourselves. (Mods: I know it's in the match thread but more publicity is always good, feel free to delete if you disagree)
I think a pitch invasion should be reserved for really big moments, so a lap of honour will do for sunday.
For me, any people who invade the pitch on Sunday should be kicked out and receive a stadium ban. The club are perfectly entitled to do that. Not a particularly long ban I hasten to add, maybe a 3 game ban or something.
The ****ers. It'd be fun if we could all take paintball guns to the game and shoot people who go on the pitch.
I've avoided it from the start, I just looked to see what the general reaction was. Joe's paintball gun idea is a good one, maybe we can all chip in to buy the stewards tasers.
If they don'twant us on the pitch they will just set up a massive steward barrier and threaten with bans, will stop most people, the selection who do make it on will be blatently seen!
THIS IS UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!! Don't the club understand their own supporters!?!? Don't they realise that 80% of the crowd will have left before the final whistle as usual.
I've never got the fascination with running on to a bit of grass anyway, I've got some in my back garden. If we had something to celebrate then that's different.
If at St M on Sunday, say to the person next to you as it comes up to the final whistle, "Please don't go on the pitch, pass it on" Forlorn hope but it might work.
Chinese whispers is a dangerous game. By the time it got from the Northam to the Chapel it would be "run on the pitch and bum Michael Owen".
The other thing to point out is that Stoke fans, beered up for the last game of the season are not really as friendly as the likes of Coventry, Southend etc. So if any of our wannabees from the Northam start getting jumpy in front of them, they are likely to get a reaction. Maybe as comical as when a small handful of Burnley fans rushed towards the perimeter, sending about 200 Saints fans running like scolded cats.
Don't think people should invade the pitch, but those videos remind of those hostage videos where they force the victims to read a message. Clearly they were instructed to say that. Maybe they should have edited out Lambert's "...Like you said..."
