I agree about having a younger player, but Bruce seems to be able to get the best out of players who others deem to be not suitable. Odemwingie could be another of these inspired choices. At this time in the season, it's most likely just paper talk though.
I never thought he was a realistic target for us, but Callum McManaman has just been ruled out for 3 months with an ankle injury. He'll now miss this summers U21 Euro's and there's a chance it may effect who comes in for him.
Would be a good proven PL striker for us. If the transfer fee was performance based & he's willing to fit in to the wage structure then I think he's a great signing for a promoted club. W.B.A might not want that kind of deal though.
Yes i would take him as he is a proven PL goal scorer. Sadly his wages would way to much for us at the moment. No chance. More likely to be Cammy Stewart. We could also loan them Tom Cairney. I guess that Bruce will want to give Fryatt until January to prove himself at PL ready. Why would anyone want to go to Burnley anyway though ? I suspect that a club like Aston Villa or Wet Spam would move for that trouble maker. Rumour has it he turned up at our Cottingham training ground today and was told to feck off.!!
What price Aaron McLean (at least) being offered to Peterboro plus cash for striker Dwight Gayle ? Surely that would appeal to all parties ? We could also offer Stewart and Cairney to the Posh.!!
I'd never heard of Gayle til this season, and I must say whatever I've seen of him I've been quite impressed by. I keep thinking to myself "where do they find all this young talent from" whenever I watch Posh. How old is Gayle?
Mirror reporter claiming that Steve Bruce is interested in Ben Watson, Shaun Maloney & Emmerson Boyce. Sounds a bit too good to be true. Dwight Gayle is 22 and they found him at Dagenham & Redbridge.
Early 20's. 22-24 i think. He came Dagenham & Redbridge for a packet of crisps, an apple and a shoe shine. Very quick and gave both Watford and Cardiff @ home torrid afternoons especially. PL clubs watching him.
I think you're paying too much for your shoe shines, the fee was £500,000 which could rise to £750,000 with add-on's.
Could be. Lol. Yes i was not sure on the fee but that sounds more than reasonable for his talent. So do the worth of McLean - Stewart and Cairney cover his increased value now ? Maybe we shall have to play 2 pre-season friendlies @ the Posh this summer.
According to the rags Villa are offering Posh £4m for Gayle as a replacement for Benteke. I would like to see him in our squad but 4m seems a bit steep
Not that old, he doesn't look older than 25 so I'll go with that. They got him from Dagenham and Redbridge; I don't remember him setting the world alight there so it must have been a massive gamble or some wicked scouting. They seem to be really good at plucking players from obscurity and making them into great players; Mackail-Smith, McLean, Boyd, Knight-Percival, Tomlin and Brisley all played in non league before they made their move to the Posh (had to check Brisley - I always get him confused with Craig Disley at Grimsby Town) I think the same about Crewe. They produce some cracking players and it's annoying that a club that's never really averaged better than the lower half of the Championship has a better youth system than us. I'm pretty sure their starting XI on the final day was made up entirely of academy graduates, which is pretty impressive.
Well with the news out of Wolverhampton today, Burnley can replace Austin with free agent Ewbanks-Blake.
Like Stockdale. Though i suspect that its just a made up figure. I am sure if Steve Bruce wants Gayle then swe have the means to get him. I have no doubts that the Posh would love to get McLean back especially for league one. Maybe they will try and get free agent Jay Simpson regardless.?
Wilfriend Bony is in talks with up to three Premier League clubs, I wonder if we are one of them? He finished as top scorer in the Erdevise last year, would be a good addition. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...set-to-continue-talks-with-interested-parties
Posh chairman and Darren Ferguson have both said Gayle is worth £10 million and they have no reason to sell.
