We won't hear anything on the incoming transfer front for a while, so I thought it would be fun to speculate on players that you think could do a good job for us in League 1, and potentially further on.

Three players I'd sign are John Fleck from Coventry City, Adam Campbell from Newcastle United, and Freddy Adu from Philadelphia Union

Fleck was a good player for Rangers, and had a lot of fans before their club fell apart. He's also been solid for Coventry City during all the **** they've had to put up with. He's a great player for them, but I reckon they'll sell on the cheap. He's a good creative-minded midfielder and he'd plug a lot of gaps in our current squad. Importantly, I reckon he'll link up really well with Liam Kelly, and given their ages I think they could either go for a lot of money in the future, or become a staple part of the squad for many years.

Campbell is being called Newcastle's Wayne Rooney. Apparently, he'll be a star in the future, so I'd love to see us try and grab him on loan. He needs game time, and from what I've seen he'll tear League 1 apart. The best part is that he can set his own chances up, so on a good day he won't suffer because his team mates are playing badly. I reckon Newcastle will send him on loan next season, so it'd make sense for us to try and get there first.

I used to suggest Freddy Adu on the old 606 board all the time, and now I reckon he'd be the perfect player for us. For the past five years he's played in six different countries, with two permanent transfers and a ton of loans to get game time. He's also played a number of times for the USA national team. He's currently playing in the Brazilian league after struggling back in America, but he's always said that he dreams of playing in England, and I reckon he'd jump at the chance of a move back to Europe for a team with a good manager. He's an attacking midfielder/forward, is VERY marketable, is definitely good enough at this level, and most importantly would be very cheap. He's on the capped wages in America, so he'll be on less than most of our players.

The first two sound ok, but do we really need or want another journeyman foreigner with a host of previous clubs to his name ?

He sounds bad on paper, but he's got a ton of experience in different leagues, and when he plays well he's pretty good. When he plays for their national team he's usually pretty good and can set players up pretty well.

His biggest issue is his age. He's apparently 23, but a lot of people (myself included) think that he's lying about his age, which would explain why he was good enough for Benfica to sign him at 18, and now is struggling to make it back in America.

As I said above, on a good day he is good enough for top-tier teams. Hull City had a transfer bid accepted for £1.5M back when they were in the Premier League, which he turned down because they were looking at relegation and because he had another offer to play in the Greek top division. He'll also be cheap. His team will probably sell for nothing and his wages will probably be lower than most of our existing players.

    I wouldn't mind seeing this

    Ins:

    Player - Fee - Age

    Dean Bouzanis - Free - 22
    Will Grigg - Free - 20
    James Baxendale - 200k - 19
    Alan Judge - Free - 24
    Marlon Pack - Free - 22
James Collins - Free/400k - 22 (Not sure if free agent)
    Kyle McFadzean - 500K - 25
    Aden Flint - Free - 24
    Onismor Bhasera - Free - 26

All young and would make us so much stronger

    Outs:

    Fontaine
    Adomah - 1.5 million
    Kilkenny
    Baldock - 1 million
    Davies (Maybe) 1 million

So if I had my way our team would look like this

    -------------Bouzanis------------
    Moloney Flint McFadzean Cunningham
    Baxendale Judge Pack Anderson
    --------Grigg-------Collins

    Subs:
    Casthenira
    Nyatanga
    Bhasera
    Kelly
    Elliott
    Burns
    Davies/Taylor

    We can dream eh

We will sign only players we can afford and as for Adu you can stick him where the sun don't shine. He is only a legend in his own mind and his handlers.

Ive not really followed league one either but guess it is out of contract players at any level the club will look at.

John fleck is a player i said many years ago we should have tried to loan from Rangers as he was still a youngster who had the hype but he fell out with the management at Rangers.

Adu is another that id love to see but it will never happen as we would only consider a top prem club so we will never see if he has half the ability as he was once tipped to be the next Pele so i do feel sorry for him as it ruined his career.

The club first needs to decide whos staying and sell the rest as transfer window opens in june and then july players out of contract will be looking for new clubs which at that stage we need to know what we need, not what we want. Ive said before we need a 30 plus goal scorer which we currently dont have. Think keeper will be SODs first signing

So Nyatanga will sign a new contract to continue warming our bench? And Davies and Baldock will take a 50% reduction i salary to do likewise? You are in cloud cuckoo land Shiny!

Have you actually seen these players you're naming on highlight shows or live tv or are you just naming a bunch of young league 1/2 players for the hell of it?

I note that all of the players names are spelt correctly with one exception.
The Bristol City Academy goalkeeper is called DYLAN CASTANHEIRA.

Like RR, I have not even bothered to watch league one or two, apart from when we got our annual beating in the cup so I would not know who is out there any good.

I have no knowledge of the lower leagues to shout about but having watched Oldham, Bradford and Gillingham recently on the TV I reckon the standard of football is much higher than some reckon, beware of the opposition and lets take nothing for granted, it's going to be tough..

Flint - Very strong CB another Jamie McCombe but with a bit more pace.
McFadzean - I admit ive never seen but everything ive heard has been good, Mainly "he is the best CB out of the championship"
Baxandale - Another Adomah but someone who can cross. Hasn't got as much flair but to be fair he is only 19/20 that will come with age/confidence. Out of them all this is who I hope we sign the most, But cant see it as Walsall want him.
Judge - No point Blackburn have him.
Pack - We all know about.
Grigg - Another Maynard type player, Again a player most know of.
Collins - Swindons top goal scorer. Reminds me of Rickie lambert but with a bit of pace. Strong in the air as well.

Cant say ive watched all of these players loads of times but when ive seen them they've been very very good and they are all doing it in the league we are going into (pack aside)

Adu would absolutely play somewhere where he is guaranteed games, and I reckon he'd jump at the chance to play in England, even in League 1. The guy was playing in the Turkish second division last season out of desperation for football. I still rate him, and I reckon that he'd tear League 1 to pieces, and if he doesn't he'll probably leave fairly quickly on a free anyway, so no harm done.

Weren't we already in the running for McFadzean at some point? I'd love to see him sign for us.

Regarding the quality in League 1. as rightly said already, we've been destroyed by a host of League 1/2 sides over the past few years in the cup. We'd be idiots to think that we're favourites for this league. I still reckon that without significant improvements we'll be looking at mid-table.

We were but he had an injury which was dodgy enough for us not to take a gamble on at the time. Very surprising for us to apply some common sense and judgement !!
