last season when UTD played at this competition, a Chelsea board member "Yurilly" changed his signature into a logo of both UTD + Europa league ,... bcz he thought it was an embarrassment for us be in this competition .. amazing how when you end up winning nothing in a season, some can change opinions 180 degree in less than a year.. classy chelsea fans
It was embarrassing for you, did you see your Champions League group last season? Any good side would have pissed that. I hope we showed you how to deal with Basel for next time you come up against them, even Torres scored. Also at least we were good enough to win it and not utterly outclassed in the last 16.
If you Mancs n Chavs want to have a bitch fest, can you please kindly **** off and do it somewhere else
I thought Chelsea failing in the group stage after winning the previous year was pretty embarrassing too.
It is true though that Chelsea fans called it a mickey mouse cup, which is fine to have an opinion, what smacks of chavosity it is now synonymous with greatness now they've won it As for mancs, they got spanked in it, not just beaten, I wonder was it more embarrassing being in the EL for United or being ripped apart and totally outclassed by a team that didn't even win it? .
hate to sound desperate but I would of loved us to win the Europa League...a trophy is a trophy...and it makes for a better celebration than...yay we came 4th. think I am in the minority though
Btw just because some Chelsea fans didn't rate the Europa league doesn't mean we all do, I've always rated it as a decent comp. the Europa league is better than the fa cup imo
This I agree with, it is a trophy, a European one. Regardless of Evra's silly comments, the United team and manager wanted to win it. Evra really just embarrassed himself by being a pretentious fool because in the end Evra was not good enough to win the darn thing Mind you I remember Spurs fans slagging the crap out of it the one year they got into the CL, reality now has them saying they'd like to win it because they have no chance of winning the CL, Spurs fans say this I am just repeating it. I think any team can win the CL if your luck is in your luck is in, see: Man U 1999 and 2008 Liverpool 2005 Chelsea 2012
Not all spurs fans mate... I don't call any trophy mickey mouse... When spurs won the Carling cup I remember liverpool fans on the old 606 site calling it a mickey mouse cup...I think it's SOME (not all) of the younger fans who do not remember football before the CL became the be all and end all. every competition except league titles and CL are ****ed until football sorts out it's priorities...the trouble is that footballs priorities are firstly money, secondly money and close behind them is ..... money!!!!! In 30 years time no one will remember where the **** their team came in the league in 2011 unless they won it or were runners up (possibly)...but they will remember if they won a trophy.
and yet we became one of only four European grand slam Champions id take that over going out in the Quarters of the CL.
You cant put it like that after the fact, you would have had to ask yourself do we want to go out of the CL at the group stage to have a chance to win the EL, the answer would have been "no, we aint interested in that mickey mouse cup" and any statement to the opposite would be a total lie, but instead you are trying to say failing in the CL and succeeding in the EL is a rare and great achievement, winning the EL with the most expensive team in the EL was a half decent achievement but failing in the CL group you failed in was a pretty poor showing so all in all given the cost of that team winning the EL is a slightly better than modest achievement maybe, this grand slam nonsense is just some delusion that tries to wipe out the fact of failing, that's why you were in the EL, failure. retaining the European cup, now that is something I would be happy to give Chelsea some credit for, but this grand slam you mention is nothing more than circumstantial and would not be so if you had not failed miserably in Europe, somehow a lot of you Chelsea fans are delusional enough to think the uniqueness of being the worst defending champions league winners ever makes Chelsea uniquely great or a cut above the rest
I'm happy with any trophies, but I will remind you the league cup to many spurs fans was a mickey mouse cup last season when Liverpool won it, never mind years ago, though I did remind them of when Spurs last won a trophy. It did me no favours
Real Madrid losing 2-1 to Atletico in the dying minutes of extra time in the Copa Del Rey final. So, with the most expensive squad in the world, the great Mourinho has only managed to win 1 league title and 1 league cup in his time at Madrid.
where as the premier league.. oh wait, yeah, two horses every year 1 team has won 13 titles since the PL began, Chelsea 3 arsenal 3 Blackburn 1 City 1 united 13, hmmm, yeah that spanish league is so boring, it only ended possibility wise last week where as the PL has been realistically over for months yeah the Spanish top flight is so a two horse race, as you can see from the above, the PL has been for most of its history a 1 one horse race. Funny how facts work aint it La Liga since 1992 when the PL began barcelona 10 Real Madrid 7 Valencia 2 deportivo 1 atletico 1 hmmm, both 5 different winners over the last 21 years but La Liga
Actually the Spanish league is a two horse race because most of the supporters support two teams, unlike the PL, plus the two teams dominate the league financially, at least in the PL smaller teams like city and Chelsea can outspend the traditional larger teams like man u, Liverpool, and arsenal. The fact Liverpool have not won a league title in 20 years is because of their own poor management of resources, they have had the financial resources to do it, same with us. In Spain 2 clubs have vastly superior resources, it basically a big SLP when there were rangers and Celtic.
