Intresting to read he has been suspended by Brighton because he fell out with the chairman over the playing budget. Poyet has been a favourite for the Swans job on a number of occasions and if I remember correctly turned us down once. There would have been a few who would have fancied him again when Laudrup leaves so I think its fair to say we had a lucky escape with this guy. My own view is that he sounds like a right ruthless Barstardo ! no matter what the budgets were for next season he should've not thrown his toys out of the pram. Imagine this happening at the Swans ? Leaving over the playing budget may well be an excuse to get out of Brighton and take the Fulham job. Poyet must also be a bit pissed off that De Canio has got himself a Premier league club and he got it from L1 ! Poyets ego seems to be a problem IMO im fully supportive of Brighton if this is over budgets, if poyet ****ed up in the transfer market its the club that has to py the bills while he ****s off elsewhere and gets on with his career! Has Poyet made himself unattractive to other clubs over this ? Thoughts ?
South Americans are a passionate & fiery bunch as you probably know NJ, and Poyet is no exception. If he has had a hissy fit on budgets then he's wrong and was an idiot to consider walking out. But we don't know do we? What if promises were made by the Board that were then reneged upon? We know that not all boards are like ours. Imo if that's the case he's entirely justified. The times I've thrown a freaky in my professional life it was usually because someone tried to do a number on me and that may be what's happened here. I like Poyet and still think he'd be a good fit with the Swans in the future. Until we know more about the circumstances of the current dust-up I'll maintain that view.
I can't help but think has he been talking to Everton and Brighton got wind of it. Very strange indeed and you make some really valid points there Norway, perhaps having ML is a bigger blessing in disguise than we all realise
Aswan- Alot rumours that the Fulham job will be up for grabs in the summer While its true nobody know the real reasons have you seen the interview with Poyet KJ ? He sounds like a very disrespectful bloke to me irrelevent of what his future holds he should never have a go at the club in the media, thats just plain daft !! Him saying things like "yes i signed a contract but contracts dont mean anything" are true but also disrespectful to the chairman and fans of Brighton. Saying "have the club reached the ceiling?,well i havent " are also something to not say in an interview. Passion i can understand, but it looked to be more about Gus Poyet than it was Brighton FC , a classic case of being bigger than the club. I dont think he was promised X then told he was only to have Y i think he has asked for budgets to be higher and been told no. He may also have asked for impossible things knowing that the chairman will say no thus given him a way out of Brighton. As i mentioned he was the one mentioning contracts so that tells me Poyet had maybe been approached and Brighton have told him no he is under contract or something similar. It all looks a bit sorded to me. reading various articles and media it seems Poyet is the one thats acted like an Arsehole not the board. His Ego is demanding he gets into the premier league and Fulham being in London is the perfect club for him, so would Everton . Glad he is nowhere near the Swans and will now never be close to joining us in the future ..
Well you can see he is angry about something, and it seems that it couldn't be possible to be that angry over transfer budgets. He was told his budget for next season was £10m pounds and also told the players a day after the play-off defeat that its likely he will leave in the summer. It all seems bit of a fudge the more you read into it. The budget thing is the same as what we were operating on but it looks like he just wants out and wants to move to the premier league. He has lacked a bit of class IMO. He has also shown his true colours and that may well put a few clubs off hiring him in the future. If Everton or Fulham want him then it looks like he is engineering his own way out of there . He has a £2m buy out clause so if somebody really wants him then surely that money is not a problem to pay to secure his services ? Maybe its a sticking point for some clubs when they need to pay his salary and everything that goes with it ?
Forget the Budget side of things, I actually think he is a good manager, he has done really well at Brighton and took them from league 1 to the brink of the PL, they also try to play the right way. there can be no shame in his on the field performance
There's always two sides to a story, I'm not discounting that poyet is a twat, but it could be that Brighton are as well. Probably see in the fullness of time, I can't see a way back for him now and they'll probably both just walk away from it.
I met the guy once when he was at Leeds with Dennis Wise! Poet was sound but Wise! Now there is a jumped up little t**t!!!!
**** happens I guess http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs...poo-found-palace-dressing-room-115253579.html
I meet Poyet at Leigh De Lamere services after we had played Carlisle on a Friday night. Leeds had been playing Bristol City and he was sitting with Beckford having food. Didn't want to disturb him, but he saw my Swans shirt, and we started having a chat. He was very complimentary about us and enjoyed watching us play, I though he was a top bloke gave my lad his autograph, and had his picture taken with him. I do rate him as a good manager, and he is a passionate character. My neighbour being a Brighton fan, does not want him to leave. But feels he might be forced out as Poyet's livid with the "Poo" gate scandal. I find that disgraceful that a club member could do that, even to your rivals. Talk about motivation the opposition, how stupid could they have be.
I think when everything has calmed down, he might well stay at Brighton, they would be stupid to get rid of him, I rate him highly and though some of his comments seem unusual, we don't have them in the full context of what has gone on at the club, so I think I'll wait and see, though it does sound from those few snipets of his, that he wants out of Brighton, that dressing room issue is down right disgusting, and I'm not surprised he's fuming!...........
A lot of Brighton fans are saying that when it all comes out(the information ,not the ****!) Poyet will have exposed his true colours! no idea what has gone on there but something serious has happened that's for sure. Its his whole coaching staff that has been suspended so that tells you that maybe they have been caught out talking to another team, this team is apparently in London and play in White and Black and have a Dutch manager. Rumour has it that they are to engineer their way out of Brighton and save the compensation claims that Brighton may have charged. All weird stuff, but having seen his press conference where he questioned the clubs ambition and other things, I would never touch the guy ever again, he lacks total class from just his words after the play-off game. Poogate will be very intresting to read about me thinks
