not at all surprised - burning his bridges with a club where he's had so much praise is silly.. in a couple of years when he's 35 it will be "I've always wanted to play for Dagenham & Redbridge" or "Lincoln City is the biggest club I've played for.."

He wouldn't have to try hard to do that, in fact it would take less effort than signing a contract with someone would. If he did want to do that he woulldn't have joined Ipswich in the first place. So if as it seems he wants to keep the wage and play he's being rather silly burning bridges with both the clubs that have wanted to take him on loan (Celtic having been the first).
