Szczesny rushed to a ball he was never going to get ahead of Kone, not even close. I can't be bothered to provide you a replay from every angle. It's not even a 60/40 on favor of Kone, Szczesny was like two steps behind or more.
You don't seem to be acknowledging the point I am making, If Kos was in the only "right" position Szczeney could be in, Why the hell, would he want to go for the ball as well? You are dealing in huge hypotheticals based on what you think might have happened if Koscielney wasn't there. It seems to me that you feel that you are all-knowing about everything that happened, or might have happened in every situation. I doubt that anyone else going into this without a pre-conceived view of our goalkeeper would be that certain.
Call me old fashioned, but I think our players deserve our support. And that includes when they are not playing well, that's when they need the support the most. Ramsey is a classic example, he had a poor season last year, but gradually bit by bit he got himself back into the frame through sheer hard work and commitment, that for me deserves recognition, because if he'd had listened to some of the vitriol that was being spouted about him, he might have well have just given up there and then.
But unless they read this forum, how about keeping that undying support in the stadium so we can have a proper honest discussion here?
At least then it would mean Wenger would give up on him and we could sign a major upgrade in the summer. Problem is, now he's looking like a decent player, we're stuck with him, rather than giving up and signing a top player instead. I would rather a top player over a decent player
He DID go for the ball are you being serious or are you that thick? That is the point, he went for a ball thinking he could get there before Kone, and it wasn't even close. That's his missjudgement that I mentioned in the original reply. If Kos hadn't reached it Kone would have headed the ball to an empty net, with Szczesny diving right beside him. Look at it from any angle you like. Calling that a perfect 100% positioning ahahaha. You are a seriously bizarre commenter sometimes, so much that you wonder if you just do it for the fun of it. I guess I give too much credit to people to think someone could have seriously meant that.
I hear what you're saying. The point I'm making though is that the honest discussion about Ramsey is that he has improved all the time (even when he getting abuse) and has proved that he deserves his place in the team. People forget that he was thrown into the heart of our midfield, one full season after coming back from his leg break, just after Fabregas and Nasri left - He was asked to carry that MF in a number of positions that season and for the most part he did his job. Not denying that he had some pretty abysmal games and I can understand the frustration, but that was kind of to be expected - you have to give full credit to him for tirelessly getting on with it and slowly improving all the time This season he's shown that the hard work and commitment are paying off, he's involed in a lot of our play and his reward is that he's gradually becoming one of our mainstays in MF. For me he completely deserves his place in there.
Ramsey's gone from a 4/10 player to a 7/10 player. Yes, he's improved. But we're not going to win trophies relying on 7/10 players. The prerequisite for playing for Arsenal shouldn't just be that you're not as **** as you used to be 12 months ago.
Ramsey is currently the best choice for our midfield, and his work rate is exceptional. However, I think his form has tailed off in the last couple of matches. His work rate has remained but his passing has regressed again. It should not take players almost 2 years to reach form after an injury. I'm sorry but that excuse expired long ago. Also, while he was playing badly, I seem to remember you arguing with people who were saying just that... so I don't understand the admission that he was abysmal when you wouldn't have said it before. Ramsey hasn't really improved all the time either. I remember him having some very good games followed by a bunch of terrible ones. Even now his form is dropping in my opinion - at least in terms of his ability to think quickly and complete a pass. At the moment he deserves his place because he's the best we've got in that position. There's hope for him yet, but we should still buy a better central midfielder in the summer, and let Ramsey compete with him.
What's to say that next season he won't go from a 7/10 to a 9/10 ? Given that he's steadily improved.
Actually, that's not true. What I said at the time was to point out where he had made a good contribution and played well, as it was getting lost in the haze of abuse. He was having a tough time, but there were moments in there that he still played well. Also, if you look back at it all now, he was improving during that time. That aside, I'm not saying that he's the answer to our problems, I'm making the point that in the clamour to slag him off people actually missed the contribution that he was making, but I do agree that we should sign another MF in the summer.
When a 'keeper comes off his line he has to either beat the attacker to the ball or have closed him down so well that he couldn't get a proper shot at goal. In Szczesny's case he made the decision to come out and did neither. Were it not for Koscielny's brilliant last ditch interception Kone would've had a header at goal inwhich case the out rushing Szczesny would've had no chance as he hadn't got close to the ball and had already dived so the only way he could've saved it is if Kone headed it straight at him. Were he still on his line he'd have had far more of the goal covered and therefore a much greater chance of saving it. I don't know how you can defend it, it's clear as day he's had a huge let off. As I've said before, you have the same situation we did with Gomes where they can pull off great saves but also make big errors, it's a case of whether you think the great saves make up for the errors or whether they can. Szczesny can catch the ball, unlike Gomes, but his decision making is erratic and I thought your defence looked more comfortable with Fabianski as he was more composed.
Absolute stupid bullshit by someone who has a dislike for a player and is warping reality to hate on him. You are saying that unless Szczney collided with Koscielney with possibly disasterous consequences, that he is in the wrong place. In this case you are going to damn him either if he is in the place you think he should be, or if he isn't. Now, if he is in the wrong place if he collides with Koscielney, tell me where the **** is he supposed to be according to you? Don't bother telling me he is in the wrong place, because we have already worked out that you are going to make up somthing to show he is in the wrong place no matter what.
If you come out and get nowhere near the ball, as a 'keeper you've made an error. Szczesny was never getting there and should have stayed on his line. I'm not making anything up, that's basic goalkeeping.
Yep , I got it, you hate him and he is wrong NO MATTER WHAT! Still no one prepared to say what he could do that was ****ing right! So he was supposed to run full tilt into Kos then? Yid - stay on his line is a complete cop out - I have no doubt that if the ball had got to Kone and Kos had missed it, we would have heard how easily he could have come for the ball.
Go for it - I am often quite entertained by the tortuous reasoning these guys invent for why these players, have been, are, and never will be any good. The only thing that amazes me is their surprise when there logic gaps get pointed out. Half of their wailing is caused by their complete and utter faith in their own opinion. I'm not saying Szczney is a great goalkeeper, or even that he will continue to be our #1, but saying he is mistake-prone, or roasting him over one incident that really was very subjective and didn't even result in a goal, is barmy. I'm solidly with you on this one, in thinking that this desire to bash our players is wrong. Nothing wrong with criticism, but it is when they go on to pronounce that they aren't good enough, or never will be good enough that I think it becomes an issue. No one knows the future and predicting which players are going to be good, or great, or not make the grade, is one of the hardest things to do. There are no certainties.
so lets just recap. Ramsey was playing crap every game and now hes not. Chesney was playing ok now hes being stupid. errr, yeah i think thats it. Just dont SAY it because they all need our support because they read this forum every night before they fall into the arms of Morpheus. ****s sake , this is a forum for what people THINK , its not the official Arsenal FC consensus. I wish some people would realise that. IE I think Squillaci is a pile of dog doodle . How about you ? please feel free to say derogatory things if you want , hes not likely to be reading this and it WONT affect his confidence.
