It's naive of you to think it's naive of me. If you keep saying the word naive over and over again it don't have sound odd. Give it a go.
Carmine I enjoy your posts and also think I know when you are being tongue in cheek. Genuinely, I do think the Thai mentality plays a role - the euphoria around the recognition of the Thai Kings award (and subsequent name change of our owners) demonstrates just how much the 'intangible' matters within that culture. This leaves me to feel (and admittedly it is only feel) that the only time they will exit their investment is when they have achieved their goal - what they may do is restructure it - perhaps bringing in further far east investment - who knows - not me, and certainly not SuetandBloated who is only on here to wind as he has absolutely no substance for his scaremongering other than, perhaps, wishful thinking.
Just an alternative viewpoint my old mate. Rumour has it we've got some bloke who invented Atari game consoles looking to invest. Now that is exciting!!!!
I fell a right ****. My bad chaps. It's a Qatari who's got **** all to do with Pac man or Donkey Kong. Easy enough mistake to make? Does anyone know if Quentin Atari invented the game console or is someone on the rise?
Begovic is off according to my Stoke supporting mate. Schmeichel is a better keeper than Butland at the moment, too. However, can't see them spending about 10m on two keepers in one year.
Yer I thought so too but live 15 miles from Stoke and heard Begovic say on local radio this week that he wants to stay at stoke and not move,so unless they force him out for money.
Three points behind Cardiff... but only a point ahead of Hull. But as I keep saying, we got there because of a fantastic run. We went back to where we came from after a bad run. Swings and roundabouts. To only concentrate on the negative part of that is blinkered to say the least. Comparing our expenditure to Blackpool and Middlesbrough backs my point at the end of my last post about some of us believing we should be buying success (which I notice you avoided commenting on). We don't know we're paying the highest wages. We were when Sven was here - we know that now. But there's nothing to say that this is still the case. We have one of the youngest squads (I think it's actually the youngest, according to Sky) in the division, so I'd be amazed if we are. But even if we are, if it means hanging on to players that, in some cases, are five or six years away from their peak, then it's worth it was the long term prosperity of our club. Bamba, Peltier, Mills, Danns, Beckford - all over-paid, all would have been made targets by our owners for Nige to get rid of. Would you be happy if you were them? Add that most have clear attitude problems then it's not really surprising. I'm not going to give credence to the rumours. Seems every time someone's not being picked a rumour starts. Outwitted tactically in the play-offs again?! If that's the worst that happens when Pearson gets "outwitted" (both opponents relying on us missing penalties) then we're in very safe hands.
Nigel Pearson said he was staying at Hull about 2 days before coming back to Leicester Means **** all nowadays.
True but the word coming out of stoke was,he was off to man u as first choice keeper, but the man u keeper found some good form and Begovic don't want to play second fiddle even for them.
Gangsta - you should be a spin doctor - now I didn't go all over the Hull board spouting how much better our side was to theirs - but plenty did - so I suspect most felt that the one point gap to them would be extended - not oblierated. I'm not ONLY concentrating on the negative - but I am pointing out that the run to the end of season is relegation form ... because it is. Success CAN be bought - as Man City and Chelsea have shown - and as Blackburn demonstrated many years ago when their expensively assembled squad won the Prem. Am I an advocate of trying to buy it no - but I am an advocate of what I see as common sense management - mixing young talent with established pros like O'Neil did, like Gordon Milene did ... the wages of Bamba, Mills, Peltier, Beckford, Danns would have been completely irrelevant if they had got us promoted ... that was not Nigel's motive for marginalising them IMHO - yours may differ ... fair play. Play-offs - Cardiff - one man (inexperienced Waggy) up front for the home tie ... that's where we blew it not at Cardiff - but we had given ourselves a mountain to climb in the second leg. watford - beaten by a better team overall over the two-legs - that happens - but we could have had the automatic or been facing Palace and Brighton if the run-in hadn't imploded - then you have a 'Cup Final' against Watford which I feel would have given us a far better chance. As to safe hands - if you love Nige so much that you are content to finish as a losing play-off semi finalist (even on penalties) - good for you. I want far more for my football club. That's where we will have to agree to differ.
