Hello, new to the boards, used to post of wfcforums but like this place better, more mature it seems. Sit in the Rookery and been watching for 20 odd years for my sins.
welcome apeman ....good to see you here . I sit in the Rookery too...i'm a very quiet wallflower...okay, maybe not . Happy posting
Good to have you here apeman - just in time to join the cup sweepstake or the cup prediction league if you fancy a go
Bore Da, as we say in North Wales, ( good morning )- have just found this place a few days ago, I used to be a rookery die -hard in the early seventies(1971) --i lived in Borehamwood at the time, I was the only kid among 700 in the school who supported their local team. We were poor in them days, sinking down the leagues, but that is how you learn to face adversity. To appreciate good times you must go through the bad ! I went to sea in the merchant navy and lost the habit/touch of going to games, i suppose its how life goes, things change, you adapt. I now live in my place of Birth , and have for thirty odd years, support the local team, and follow Watford--if you get my drift. Football clubs are/should be part of their community, its what its all about, where i live now its only a part time club, but they are deeply embedded in the soul of the area.Modern football is in danger of forgetting/losing that--hope that never happens to watford.
welcome rudebwoy thanks for the background info. As a friend of mine says...'i'm Watford til i move'...i guess that's a similar sentiment...good to know you still follow what's going on though
Prynhawn da rudeboy. - we say that too in South Wales - moved here 3 years ago but you can take the boy out of Watford but you can't take Watford out of the boy. Whereabouts in North Wales are you? Welcome to this friendly board
i'm in Bangor , have been for thirty two years now, all my kids are here, most of my mates and family, get to the odd game now and then-- mostly though follow bangor City home and away-- europe for the last five years-- we usually go out in the first round , but its a right good laugh-- usual suspects make the foreign trips-- last year had a week in moldova-- poorest country in europe--but people of great spirit and integrity-- a hidden gem! Without football would never have gone there....and you leonardo -- lle ti'n byw ?
welcome to the board uOrrrns! If you have any questions, ideas, or general comments, please don't hesitate to let me or babyhornetdan know Have fun! COYH!!!!!
Yum - their Octomore 4.2 is divine, nectar of the Gods. At £100 a bottle, slightly out of my league though.
I was in Waitrose this morning, they've got Johnny Walker "blue label" at only £183.50p a bottle Naturally I picked up a couple while they're so cheap!
Hello everyone, I've done a few posts already but only just noticed this is where you introduce yourself. Was brought up in NW London - North Harrow - and Watford was the closest proper football team. When I got old enough a few older boys took me along to matches in the late 1960's, I think I have been to the Vic a couple of times since, so I have to suffice with the meagre offerings of the BBC and Sky. As you will note I am on "missionary work" up in Scotland! My Mum & Dad lived near Watford after they retired but despite visiting often really couldn't justify going to a match. The both died in Watford General next door to the ground! Memories: Stuart Scullion running round in circles Barry Endean Rodney Green's screamer going past Gordon Banks Ken Furphy Sitting on the glass studded wall near the toilets at the Vic Rd end so I could see us get beat by Man U 2-0 with 36,000 in the ground. Don't know what it is but there is something about Watford - once a supporter always a supporter. Anyway I have been following the board now for probably 2 years and have really enjoyed your banter, good natured approach, humour, care for the club, sensible comments and your friendlyness to each other. Will probably not post too much in case I make an idiot of myself . Cheers Scullion AKA Fred PS I also like Cricket very much (won't get repped for that eh!)
Welcome Scully I'm on the same sort of work in Scotland - not being very successful though. It's hard to dislodge Celtic and Rangers - even here in Aberdeenshire they abound. I think the Rodney Green goal you refer to was actually Colin Franks's Don't worry about making a fool of yourself, everyone does it now and again - and it livens things up. Cricket? What's that?
