I never really understood the ME sponsorship thing. It's not as though anyone in the ground or watching the Football League show is going to be buying ME services. If we were a Premier League club with more exposure that'd be different of course.

I also don't get why our owner would pay to sponsor a team which he owns, other than getting "free" sponsorship.
Surely now, with these FFP rules in place, it would make more financial sense to be sponsored by an external company, with no affiliation to Ipswich Town, as it would then give us more income.
Although, as i havn't a scooby about marketing and business, i'm sure ME will tell me it's better for him to be sponsoring his own club.

The way I see the ME sponsorship (Very likely to be wrong) is that he used it as a method to pump more money into the club by charging himself a higher fee for sponsorship than he would if E-on etc. sponsored us... Whether that now changes due to FFP I don't know :emoticon-0112-wonde

Also, this would probably explain the 'New kit' unveiling that seems to have been delayed as I'm sure we will have a new sponsor next season <ok>

But if that were the case KoPR wouldn't it be easy now just to go.. right, I'm sponsoring the kit now for £10m per season... ?

Or why not go the whole hog and pay £50m a season...if he gets it all back!

I think (again could be way off the mark) that ME will be looking at getting a whole host of sponsors and will look to get the best deal in terms of who will pay more for each 'asset' i.e. if E-on want to sponsor us then offer them the shirt deal and ME can then sponsor the training kits etc. and Greene King sponsor the training ground... so there could be a complicated jigsaw in terms of maximising profit against every available 'sponsorable' element of the club <ok> (I think...)
