Oh no! I just knew we would have something new to worry about today and there it is. MoPo is going to leave. I saw my consultant at the RSH on Monday and he said to me as I was leaving " Now don't go losing any sleep worrying about things. It is all going to be fine". He's not a Saints fan then and ever since he said that everything has started to go wrong. We were nearly relegated, Shaw is leaving us, Nicola is leaving us and now MoPo is leaving. At this rate I will soon be the only one left that is unless my operation goes wrong.
This sounds like Cortese is upping the ante on whatever leverage they are trying to gain on the Liebherrs. I don't like all this brinkmanship, so easy to all blow up in your face!
Some one said to me "Smile, it could be worse", so I did, and now it is!!!! Why oh why is it so difficult to be a Saints fan? There was me feeling all smug, as I thought we had a well run club, with Foreign owners who seemed to actually be doing a good job, now this all happens.
I know how this could be worse. This could all be ongoing with the feasibility that we could be relegated Sunday. See? Doesn't that make you feel slightly happier?
Well, the Liebherrs could pull the plug, we could go into admin, and the Premier league could deduct 9 points before Sunday, if that makes you feel any better!
Morgan: "Of course I would be upset to see the chairman and the manager go. That's why I and other players signed new contracts. But I'm sure it won't happen"
I really do think this whole affair was planned a long time ago, no one in the club seems particularly surprised. Cortese must have known how far the Liebherrs are prepared to go to support his vision. The more I see of this, the more I see a Cortese led buyout as the end game. I can't really see a reconciliation of interests after this.
There's little doubt that Cortese plans his moves carefully. You can see now why NA had to go mid season.
I really hope you are right, but to me there are 3 possible outcomes. - Liebherrs retain ownership of club, and install a new Chairman. - Cortese leads a buyout of the club financed by God knows who. - Cortese and the Liebherrs kiss and make up. Third option seems fairly unlikely if things have deteriorated to a point where Cortese had to go public with this. At the moment we have no way of knowing which is the more likely out of the first two options. So to state that there is no way Cortese or Pochettino is leaving is a bit head in the sand.
Guilty! Definitely some speculation on my behalf there, it just seems that if relations have reached a stage where Cortese feels he needs to hold the owners to ransom like this, then communications must be pretty poor.
Exactly, we don't even know the nature of the disagreement, it could be a minor thing for all we know, or (presumably Cortese's plan), once the family are made aware of the importance of Cortese to the club they will acquiesce to his demands.
Another quote from Schneiderlin this morning Schneiderlin : "It would put everything in question again for every single player."
I think it may well be that the Liebherr's and advisors don't necessarily see that high investment could lead to value for money in terms of the club value. After all, most of us fans are loving hearing the ambition and stated goals of Cortese but how many of us are confident that we could actually hit top 6 next season? Most of us talk about top 8 being achievable but Cortese talks of Top 6 not just as achievable but as if it would be a failure not to reach it. Maybe the Liebherr's are just like most of us are where they understand exactly what Cortese says and agree with it whilst not really thinking that the timescales and targets are realistic. Roll on next season though. It's Saints whoever owns or runs us even though I would prefer it to remain as is, of course.
