JT is not backwards about getting forward !!!! I know Frank asked for him to be there, but kitted up ???????? Maybe I just need to chill out some more. Hang on, Obi Mikel is kitted up as well !!!!! WTF ?????
Terry changing out of his suit and into his kit is so cringing, Why does he feel the need to do that? He hasn't played any part of the game so why wear the kit, he can celebrate just as easily in his suit
You've been brainwashed as well then? Hilario did the same thing, Mikel and all others bar Hazard did. Rooney did the same thing. Stance how you only mention our captain.
I mention it because he's the most prominent in the photo and has barged himself to the front, even though he wasn't on the pitch to win it, yet again...
Top reply my man Also the fact that we are a 'together team' which means we are as one and fight for each other unlike certain other teams who haven't won a premier title.
He's also the most prominent person in our team as he's the captain and played a key role in getting us there
This terry thing is such a non issue. The only one who should care is frank as captain on the day. He clearly wants terry there. Just anti terry vitriol from rivals.
Pretty sure, as has been pointed out before, UEFA now require all players who are partaking in celebrations to wear their kit. Tho' as you say it is a bit cringeworthy to see a player who didn't play in the final being the one to lift the trophy. Surely if it was such a 'together team' then someone like Ivanovic would be invited to lift the trophy as the man who scored such a vital goal. Instead it's the JT and Frank show yet again, which implies that the 'together team' is only as together as those two allow it to be...
Captain and Vice Captain lifting the trophy? No way It's attitudes like yours which is why the country is in the state its in today. Becoming precious over who lifts a trophy first. All the players got to hold it at some point but not everybody can hold it at once. You make a case for Ivanovic, I could make a case for Torres who scored the crucial goal when they were on top and was our top scorer., or Cech who made a crucial save at 1-1, or even Cahill who made a match winning last-ditch tackle, or Ramires who won us the corner that led to the winning goal or Mata who took the corner etc. It's usual protocol for captains to lift the trophy with vice captains. It would be no different with Liverpool re: Carragher and Gerrard. Seriously, life isn't that big a deal
Oh I agree it's not something to be precious about. Just funny to see a player who wasn't playing lift the trophy. Keane didn't lift it in 99, nor Gary Neville in 08, nor Xavi in 11. And Carragher came nowhere near the league cup in 2012, nor the CL in 2005. AFAIK it's also usual protocol for players who played in the game to lift the trophy. And as you say, there were plenty of players who made a big contribution in the game who weren't even near the trophy.
He didn't have a great season and then sent off a "united player at Old Trafford", Roman must have signed him up
Frankly it's just another (and a rather lame one at that) stick to beat JT with. Rooney didn't play at the weekend but had his kit on to lift the trophy. I'd understand if he'd played no part but you don't win a cup just in the final but in all the other games to; of which JT played and contributed. He only missed out due to injury and I frankly couldn't give a toss what players have done in the past. Yes it is a bit Frank and Terry show; but given their contribution to our club - who would begrudge it. Loyalty is pretty lost in Football nowadays yet these two have stayed at CFC for years despite chances to move away and deserve their time in the sun when it comes. Fact remains that people don't like Terry and like seeing him having success even less. Non issue.
Actually if Rooney had been one of the first to lift the PL trophy at the weekend I'd have thought the same about him. As I've said before, I have no problem with Terry changing into his kit and getting a medal and joining in the celebrations and waving the trophy around in front of all the fans and the cameras after the presentation. And it's up to the Chelsea players to decide who lifts the trophy. Although based on the CL celebration many of them were none too pleased at Terry being slap bang in the middle of their celebration. I just think it's strange that a man who didn't play any part in the final should be the first one to lift the trophy. I can understand him being club captain and loyal and everything, but I can't think of any other club captain who missed a final and then lifted the trophy rather than letting the players who actually won the final have the honour.
I thought it was funnier that Ba went up and got himself a medal - he was cup-tied for Chelsea and played no part in that success. Love it.
