I wonder what Platini is thinking... "****, the English have won another European trophy" That bloke staring down John Terry is bloody creepy.
Great challenge at the end from Cahill when everyone else missed the ball or left it for Cech to collect, and Benfica's striker nipped in. Would've been a great twist.
Fernando Torres is he first player in history to win the World Cup, European Championship, Champions' League and Europa League. I seriously don't think he cares about that £50mil price tag any more. Nor do probably any Chelsea fans.
Trying to work out who he is the guy looking down, seen him before, looks like kind of a European Redknapp!
On the flip side: Ross Turnbull: 1 Premier League, 2 FA Cups, 1 Community Shield, 1 Champions League and 1 Europa League. He's played 7 matches for Chelsea.
I don't really rate this competition at all. I'm not saying it's easy to win just that there's only a few good teams in it.
Same with the Champions League though. There's always your main forces such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd, Dortmund, Bayern etc and a couple of surprises such as Basel, Malaga etc but then there's the teams who have finished 1st/2nd/3rd/4th in the League 2 standard Leagues that have no chance in the competition at all. Europa League is interesting to me because it's the lesser sides in all the League's that you see less off. It's nice to see someone different than the European giants on T.V. for once. I'm glad Chelsea have won this. As much as I hate most of the bigger teams in England, it's always good to see a European trophy come back with an English side.
Pointless observtion: Chelsea didn't make a substitution. When was the last time any club did that? Maybe Rafa didn't bring one on as he was likely expecting extra time...
Hmm, probably not considering it's 4 wins of the Champions League and Europa League / UEFA Cup in the last 14 years. 4 out of 28 is far fewer than other countries. And why do people think Platini is anti English anyway? When has he EVER done anything to make people think this? Just another thing, I do love the way the media is spinning this saying Chelsea are the first team in history to hold both at the same time. Erm, yes - that's cos they're the first team In history to be Champions League holders and get knocked out before the group stages so they get dumped into the Europa League!! That's not something to be proud of.
Why not? Yes they didn't perform in the champions league, but they have in the Europa. Atleast give them some credit.
You're completely missing my point. The media are saying they're the first team in history to do this as if it is an amazing achievement yet they're the ONLY team in history who could've done it, as no other team defending the Champions League has participated in the Europa League the following season.
BCC it's becoming difficult to take seriously anything you say about English teams in Europe or English football compared to other countries. Your bias is overwhelming.
