I agree there are a lot of goals which wouldn't have been scored if a man was on each post but I thought that was too hight to keep out.
You'd have thought after last time he might have learned his lesson. He's made a right tit of himself. Again.
You can't argue with the fact he's the third highest scorer for an English club. It doesn't matter where or how he scored them, he has. Van Persie had a year left on his contract so Arsenal had to cash in, if he didn't, he would have cost nearer to the £50m mark. Torres has scored vital goals for Chelsea (The one he just scored, UCL semi etc.) I would say he is worth every penny if he brings success to the club.
Weldone Rafa. Won that ungrateful bunch of twats a major trophy. He'll be leaving with his head held high.
Aye, hopefully their fans will finally give him some respect. Hes won them a European trophy for goodness sake. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he replaces Mourinho at Real Madrid, with Jose coming back to Chelsea.
Entertaining game, netted £60. Thought benfica were unlucky but fell to bits in front of goal, on another night they'd have stuck 5 in. Shame neither of Lampards shots went in they were magnificent efforts. Been a great week for him, he's now won every trophy with Chelsea. As for Torres, as far as abramovic and his bottomless pockets are concerned, he's definitely money well spent, if not for him they wouldn't have any European trophies at the minute never mind 2 in consecutive seasons. He's a class player anyway.
Rafa is criminally underrated as a manager. Will be very interesting to see where he goes next season
Fernando Torres and Juan Mata: World Cup 2010 winners FA Cup winners 2011/12 Champions' League winners 2011/12 Euro 2012 winners (Torres top scorer as well) Europa League winners 2012/13 Not a bad few years for them two...
To be fair, considering Lampard and Terry are good mates and have been at Chelsea for ages, Frank probably invited John up to lift the trophy with him. No need to get the kit on though...
I'm afraid I can. Murray has 31, Rhodes has 29, etc. You can say they were against lesser teams but that's exactly the point I'm making about Torres. A goal against Monterray in the Club World Cup or against Coventry (may have been a different lower league side) in the League Cup is not comparable to goals in the Premier League that RVP scores on a regular basis. He's also made extremely costly errors, like getting sent off against Man United when Chelsea were in pole position, they went on to lose 3-2 because of Torres' stupidity. He's nowhere near a £50 million player. To put it in context, in his third season at Chelsea, Torres has played 81 league games and scored 14 league goals. On the other hand, Van-Persie, in his first season at Man United has played 35 league games and scored 25 league goals.
Benfica tried to walk it in when they were on top, they should've had more attempts on goal. Chelsea couldn't play any worse than they did in the first half. Two good goals from Torres and Ivanovic and a stupid penalty conceded. So that's Champions League qualified for and the Europa League won- not bad for Rafa. He'll be head hunted in the summer. If he doesn't get a job i''l be amazed. I agree with you, Torres has had a good season and a bit. In Europe anyway.
I thought Cahill had a good game, with the second half performance they just shaded it. Benfica were poor up front, wasted a lot of good chances.
