Yeah I think I would take one season in the Championship for winning the FA Cup. I don't think Wigan will bounce straight back up though. They don't have the finance to keep their best players, so the vultures will already be circling to pick the bones out of those players who are good enough for the PL and of course Martinez.
And I'll have you know the last Pompey game I went to was the most entertaining non-Farnborough FC game I've ever been to.
Well that's that. We are now 100000000000% safe. Feel for Wigan though, but it was bound to happen sooner rather than later.
Are we though? We could go into admin this week. We could get points deducted for something. I'm not relaxing until the fixtures are out
[h=2]Possible permutations[/h]Any of following score combinations would ensure Chelsea and Arsenal finish the Premier League season with identical records: Chelsea draw 0-0; Arsenal win 2-1 Chelsea draw 1-1; Arsenal win 3-2 Chelsea draw 2-2; Arsenal win 4-3 Chelsea draw 3-3; Arsenal win 5-4 If any of these happen there will be a play off on a neutral ground. Amazing after 38 games but the way this season has gone it will probably happen!
I wonder where the neutral venue would be. Be great if they chose St James' Park, the distance would cause quite a stir! It wont be Wembley as that's rather booked up this month! White Hart Lane is the next biggest stadium in London, perhaps that would be the chosen ground... ohh the irony!
I'm sure Chelsea would love just one more match. That would round their total number of matches this season to 70! It would equal Arsenal's record of most number of matches in a season. They managed 70 games in the 1979/80 season. Incidentally, Chelsea are the first English side to compete in 8 tournaments in one season: Premier League FA Cup League Cup Community Shield Champions League Europa League European Super Cup Club World Cup
