The Guzan example is ridiculous. He was poor for us but has gone on to be a lot better, that happens all the time in football - exactly the same way Mark Noble was poor for us and was ace the season after. It doesnt mean fans dont know anything.

I didn't think Guzan was poor for us at all, the only thing I remember getting pissed off about him was being caught 'over the top' when that chap who's name I've forgotten lobbed him at home against Millwall.

No, just there are better realistic options. Ive said all along Friedel would be my preferred but I would have Mannone as light years ahead of Stockdale. There's also Myhill as an obvious candidate. What's stupid aout saying that? There is a middle ground between Stockdale and Buffon you know.

I actually think Stockdale is slightly better than Myhill. Myhill is a much better shot stopper but Stockdale is streets ahead at the rest of a goalies game. Mannone is a middle ground between them, I'd be more than happy to have any of them, Mannone first choice.

Coming to think of it when was the last time Stockdale made a fantastic reflex save? I can't think of any....

    This is like Groundhog Day.

Palace , deep into stoppage time.

    Save of the season.

    Pay attention.

He made a good save against Zaha, with that one being talked about already I chose to ignore it.

I don't think I've ever seen him make a fantastic reflex save?

    I hate groundhog day.

Stockdale is a good keeper, but wouldn't go near him for £3m! Mannone would be my preferred choice, not as good as Friedel but he'd only be here for a year and we need a keeper for 5+ years.

I also remember Stockdale making a save down low to his near post recently that people raved over, can't remember who against though

Oh! Behave yourself!! You're making out that Mannone was some kind of God!! Bollocks! Vito as I recall was nowhere near what you would call a 'command the box' goalie. In all truth I would put Vito and Stockers on an equal footing.

Playing behind our defence he does not get the chance most of the time. But when he does he is good. I can still see his save from Zaha in the last minute of the Palace home game as an example.

I mentioned Moore a fair while back (there was a thread on him I did earlier in the season), he looks quality. If Brentford lose the playoff final I expect his pricetag will be fairly low.

I also really rate Shwan Jalal at Bournemouth, he's a legend.

He got dogs abuse from some on the forums , and it does mean some of our fans know nothing- you know the types that ring in the radio and start panicking when we lose a game? The thread is right in that Stockdale isn't worth that amount but I remember watching him play for Fulham in the Premiership a while back and he looked the part for sure.

I've noticed he's really good at dealing with **** backpasses. A couple of times in the last few games it seemed like the defenders were playing 'see who can give Stockdale the ****test backpass' and he always dealt with it. He's really quick to come off his line.

That's one of those things everyone says. What keeper is actually renowned for good kicking?

    Are you sure?

    Spot on Tickler.

The ones in the Premier League, which is why it's an issue.

Stockdale was nowhere near the best keeper in the league this season, next season he'll be shown up more, we need to do better.

Like who? We have a limited budget. I would far rather invest in a quality striker than a quality goalie. That being said, we shouldn't go anywhere near Stockdale for £3m
