http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2324505/Grant-Holt-hints-Norwich-exit.html Would anyone take a punt on Grant Holt? Bit of a prick, but does a job and scores goals. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-time-Paul-Lambert-does-pick-Aston-Villa.html Also Darren Bent hinting at a possible exit? Although Dortmund's interest in Benteke may end up being the sole decider of where Bent plays next Season.
grant holt could be worth a punt but can only see a few clubs fighting over bent and don't think we stand a chance
It seems that Liam Bridcutt on a free s a non-starter, despite many people thinking otherwise, he did sign a new deal and is contracted until June 2015, so would be very expensive.
Hugo Rodallega - £5m, and although pretty much everyone rates him highly he actually only averaged 6 goals per season for Wigan. Not terrible for relegation fighting but hardly £5m worthy. Fraizer Campbell - £6m (after add-ons) and although he was good for us and has been good for Cardiff he's never really done anything at Premier League level. 1 goal every 10 games in the top tier. Darren Bent - £16.5m (after add-ons). Can't argue with how quality he turned out to be but look at that price. Asamoah Gyan - £13m. Similar to Bent really - look at the price. So I hate to be the voice of negativity, but Bruce is not someone who finds quality players on the cheap. Even Valencia was £5m. Obviously that's an absolute bargain for a player of his quality but it's still a lot of money for a club like us to pay out on one player. The fact that it equals our (stupid) record transfer says it all.
WRONG as usual. Liam Bridcutt is out of contract now. He signed a 2 year deal on 28/4/11 according to his player profile and is now on the list of players out of contract this summer. 9 pages of FATS. Some very interesting names on the list. I would also like us to try and get Peterboro striker Dwight Gayle. The next big thing as has been reported. I wonder if we could offer Aaron McLean back as part of the deal to sweeten the pot.
What utter rubbish ^^^^ this. One other thing, Bruce/Sunderland Sold Darren Bent onto Aston Villa for £24m so it was not a bad piece of business was it ?
Mirror website is the only place I've seen any evidence that he has a new deal. Leaning towards Tickles on this one. Where'd you hear the news of his new contract OLM? You missed the point completely. Tell you what, you front Bruce £16.5m to buy a striker. If we sell him for more, you can have your money back and the profits go to the transfer kitty.
Not at all. I totally understood what you posted. The main reason for Darren Bent being sold was his off pitch goings on shall we say. But the transfer landscape has much changed since the summer of 2009. Now its very much a buyers market. Many clubs are having to slash wage bills to fit into the FFP regulations especially all the FL clubs. Incomes for most FL clubs wont be anywhere near enough to keep what they have now. Blackburn Rovers are one of the clubs that must get rid of high wages. They gambled last summer on a quick return to the PL and LOST. Now they have a problem.
If you understood you wouldn't have called it rubbish, and you wouldn't have brought the sales figures into it. My point is perfectly valid - Bruce has founds some completely unheard of (and heard of) jems, yes - but at a price. You're obviously right about the way the market's gone, but wage packets don't drop quite so easily. For example, Rhodes. Hypothetically, we'd be paying what, £45k? £50k maybe? Call it £50k for ease.. we can only really be paying half of that. The excess wage is £1.3m, plus bonuses, signing on fee, agent fee.. What I'm trying to say is that we can't afford big fees, even if we can get a player on small(ish) terms. But even in today's market - there may be reduced fees, but wages are higher than ever. It balances out if you look at cost over the year/contract length.
From that weird and majorly unreliable "Football-rumours" site: Hull City to make contact with the following: Callum McManaman (Wigan £5m) Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn £4m) Curtis Davies (Birmingham £2m) Danny Simpson (Newcastle FREE) Nick Powell (Manchester United Season-long loan) John Guidetti (Manchester City Season-long loan) Andy King (Leicester City £1.5m) Shaun Maloney (Wigan £3m) Paul Scharner (Wigan £2m) Jon Walters (Stoke City £3m) Jamie O'Hara (Wolves £1m) Vito Mannone (Arsenal £1.5m) and/or David Stockdale (Fulham £3m) Nakhi Wells (Bradford City £2m) Steve Bruce is though to be choosing around 5/6 players from that list in order to aid Hull City's Premier League survival scrap. Hull City are also ready to allow the following to leave: Seyi Olofinjana (Sheffield Wednesday FREE) Liam Rosenior (Leeds FREE) Nick Proschwitz (SC Paderborn Season-long loan) Jay Simpson (Wolves £1m) Paul McKenna (Retirement) Andy Dawson (Retirement - possible coaching role at the Club) Mark Cullen (Bury £150k) Jamie Devitt (Bradford City £100k) Matty Fryatt (Derby County £1m) Aaron McLean (Notts County FREE)
I'd be more than impressed if we managed to bring in £1m for a player who has a month left on his contract.
I did say "weird and majorly unreliable" I just copy and pasted that post because it had the most players mentioned.
