I would only get rid of Assaidi and the likes of Coady, Flanagan & others who will never get a game here. We'll need most of the players in the squad if we are aiming to play European football in future. And I think its unrealistic/silly (or both) to get rid of Skrtel, Carra & Coates all in one season and expect us to get 3 new centre backs that will slot right in and adapt to the team.
1. Reina - Keep unless we (a) get an offer that is deemed unrejectable (£15m+) or (b) he wants to leave in which case we hold out for at least £12m 2. Jones - Keep: been alright for a back-up and is on cheap wages. 3. Gulacsi - 4. Ward - 5. Johnson - Keep 6. Enrique - Keep 7. Agger - Keep; I would say its a good time to cash in but 8, 9 & 11 mean otherwise. 8. Coates - Sell, he's not cutting the mustard. 9. Carragher - 10. Kelly - Keep but convert to CB 11. Skrtel - Sell, sell, sell!!! 12. Flanaghan - Keep: Like Jones, cheap and alright as a last resort 13. Sama - 14. Wisdom - Keep; the lad is going places! 15. Gerrard - Hire sluts to suck him off daily!!! 16. Coutinho - 17. Henderson - 100% Keep 18. Downing - Sell, sell, sell!!! 19. Allen - Keep, deserves a second season. 20. Lucas - Obviously Keep 21. Sterling - Keep but depending on incoming activity, possibly loan to a Premier League side for the season 22. Shelvey - Keep but depending on incoming activity, possibly loan to a Premier League side for the season 23. Coady - 24. Ibe - 25. Suarez - Keep unless he wants to leave AND we can get at least £40m for him 26. Assaidi - Sell; not worked out 27. Sturridge - Keep 28. Borini - Keep; like Allen, he deserves a second season 29. Suso - Keep but depending on incoming activity, possibly loan to a Premier League side for the season 30. Yesil - 31. Morgan - 32. Mukendi - 33. Andy Carroll - Sell for as much as possible, preferably at least £15m Well, that's my quick thoughts. However, I will add that every player has their price and should we receive a offer of a certain level for any one of these players then I would sell.
Thread title says we decide so....I'm swapping Allen for Alonso, flogging Borini for £8 mill and bringing Mandy back, **** Shelvey off for £4 mill and bring Jay back. That gives me £12 mill and a better squad...sell Downing and Coates for £4 mill each and that gives me £20 mill for a centre half and a winger. Kelly and Wisdom cover Carras departure...all that without spending a single yankee dollar
has Robinson been included? take it he would be on the to sell list as well. doubt we would get much, but all helps. i hope Ibe gets a chance in the first team and make apps now and then like Sterling did, want to see if he can step up, looks an exciting prospect.
1. Reina - If we can get 20/25+ then sell, I can see him pushing through a move in a year or two anyway and him going cheap. Rumours have invovled swap deals with Valdes and Tello, who could be great 2. Jones - Not good enough, and not even young. Need a new number 2 3. Gulacsi - How has been getting on? 4. Ward - who? 5. Johnson - Still great going forward but defensively makes me nervous. But to get a better RB than him we'd have to pay quite a bit and this isn't a priority position 6. Enrique - Keep 7. Agger - Keep- unless we get another £26m offer from City, that's a lot of money for him let's be honest 8. Coates - A flappy CB and a liability, you'd expect such a tall guy to be more solid but he looks so flimsy at times. Shame really as he came with so much potential 9. Carragher - Should become a coach with us, apparently we have offered him a position at the club (not sure in what capacity) 10. Kelly. - versatile player with a lot of potential still, hopefully he will stay injury free and continue to prove himself capable of being a first-choice CB 11. Skrtel - Keep. He is worth more to us as a reliable backup than what we would get on the market (8£mil) and I still don't see why everyone is keen to scrap him- he's useful I think 12. Flanaghan - no idea really, looked OK under Kenny, but not sure how he is progressed since 13. Sama - a beast in FIFA and gets to the 80s, so worth keeping 14. Wisdom - Future starter for us for sure, keep 15. Gerrard - Keep, even a new contract (not that he's going anywhere). Still think we can get another 3 years out of him as a starting player 16. Coutinho - ****, sell... 17. Henderson - Iffy first half of the season but second half has really improved, showing why we paid what we did for him. Keep. 18. Downing - Sell. Such a high opinion of himself and he's crap. Never really busts a gut and not sure why BR bums him so much 19. Allen - Still unsure, he was ok for the first 3 games but then turned ****. he's a definite crab with his sideways passing. He's not a DM and so should be doing more to unlock defenses and feeding forwards, not just "keeping the ball moving". Fear BR will shove him straight back in the team next season, however. 20. Lucas. Obviously keep. 21. Sterling. Does look a bit like a headless chick at times, he's still young though. 22. Shelvey.- Sell, he's ****e, let's be honest. He's crap at defending so that leaves him in a CAM role, which he's also **** at... 23. Coady - keep. 24. Ibe - keep. 25. Suarez. Keep. 26. Assaidi - no idea why BR bought him if he doesn't play him. Shame he's given ****-stain Downing more game time than this lad, who has looked pretty neat the few times he's played 27. Sturridge - keep. 28. Borini. Keep. 29. Suso - Keep 30. Yesil - tipped for great things when he arrived, but at 18/19 I find it odd he has never made the bench 31. Morgan - I don't think this guy will make the step up, I think perhaps loan 32. Mukendi - who? Carroll- Sell, £15m + and it's done
1. Reina - Keep, unless he wants away. 2. Jones - Good back up Keep 3. Gulacsi - Sell for young prospect 4. Ward - don't know 5. Johnson - Keep. 6. Enrique - keep. 7. Agger - Keep. 8. Coates - Loan out 10. Kelly. Keep. 11. Skrtel - Sell only if improvement is found. 12. Flanaghan - Sell 13. Sama - young but gut sells sell. 14. Wisdom - keep. 15. Gerrard - keep. 16. Coutinho - keep. 17. Henderson - keep. 18. Downing - SELL 19. Allen - Keep 20. Lucas. Keep 21. Sterling. Keep 22. Shelvey. Loan 23. Coady - keep. 24. Ibe - keep. 25. Suarez. Keep unless offered silly money & have guaranteed replacement lined up. 26. Assaidi - Sell 27. Sturridge - keep. 28. Borini. Keep. 29. Suso - Keep 30. Yesil - Keep 31. Morgan - Keep 32. Mukendi - Don't know him Just as long as we find replacements for Carra, Downing & back up for Lucas ill be satisfied.
I would sell Downing, Jones, Flanagan, Assadi form that list and I would loan out Coady, Coates and maybe Sama. Interesting that most people would sell Shelvey but keep Coady even though they are almost the same age and Shelvey is streets ahead of Coady in almost every aspect of the game. It must be because Coady is from Liverpool and Shelvey is a cockney.
Coady deserves a chance to prove himself in the PL? Shelvey has had ample game time and is crap - definite championship player
Hes 21 years of age. Do you not think he needs some time to develop like the vast majority of young players do? Hendo was crap last season and Lucas was crap when he first joined. Allen was disgraceful last season and is young, should we get rid of him too?
Or should we keep wasting time on every youngster just because they're young and so might have potential? What about Shelvey makes you think the lad will be a great player for us? Every time he's in the team playing crap he's taking the place of some one else, like Suso, who could be improving and getting game time.
I would still persist with Shelvey. He is young but when you put him in the u21's (both for LFC and England), he is head and shoulders above everyone - plays confidence, arrogance, scores, creates, dictates. I know he's not ready for first team action yet but a loan move in the Championship would be a good test.
I never at any stage said he would be a great player for us. I think he is being judged far too early like Hendo was last season.
Hendo was played out of position last year and showed what he could do at Sunderland. Shelvey, however, plays in his best position and also has been playing for us for quite a while (3 years) and I've never been impressed with his performances in the main team. Lucas had defensive abilities which meant there was always hope he could play in a different position - but Shelvey can't hope for that, his tackling is an absolutely liability and could really cause someone some damage one day.
Well we will just have to wait and see. I think the lad has potential, he might not have the atttitude but I think Rodgers sees something in him and will stick with him. Rodgers spoke very highly about him on Being Liverpool and when you see him playing at U21 level I can see where Rodgers is coming from.
I agree. I also agree that he's been garbage for the first team. But I do believe he can mature into a top player - he was playing first team football at Charlton and was one of their best players. Also, I hope we don't get rid of Skrtel. He was player of the season last year, which some will argue was more the exception than the rule but at least he's a fighter on the pitch. Probably a trivial quality but he gets stuck in and he's not afraid. He will back his teammates up Examples off the top of my head was when Matt Smith jumped into Brad Jones and Skrtel was straight in there. I also remember when Evra celebrated in front of Suarez at Old Trafford last season, and Skrtel came rushing in to have a go at Evra. As I said, it's probably a trivial quality to look for in players but he's half decent and has shown the ability to play to a high level (look at last seaosn) - combined with that combative personality. and it's something I admire.
My biggest issue with Shelvey is that he just doesn't look like he's learning anything. He's had a decent amount of games now for us and yet he keeps making the same mistakes. As with Allen his positional sense is non existent and his tackling is even worse. His passing is hit and miss and his shooting is dog ****. Hardly a good mix for any position is it. At least with Allen I can see possible reasons for it (not a natural defensive player and it's his first season) but JJ hasn't got those excuses. If he does stay then personally I'd want to see him out on loan until Jan and let him prove he's as good as he thinks he is. I agree with you about Skrtel though, but with the caveat that he stays as a bench player initially (because we have signed someone else). If he fights his way back in and plays really well then we'll all be happy. I'm not sure if he wants guaranteed first team football but if he does then at least we can hold out for a decent price. If he is willing to fight for his place then we have a bloody decent third choice centre back. Same goes for Agger as well in terms of getting some competition in for his place. I was hoping Coates was going to be that player but he hasn't done himself any favours this year.
