It's not about not having ambition, I desperately want to be in the CL like all spurs fans here. But if, as looks likely, we are in the EL next season then I'm not gonna cry about it and I will enjoy our attempts at winning it as I'm sure we will try.
We aim high, but even failure might have have an echo of glory

HIAG - the bookies have Liverpool at 20-1 to win the league next season and us at 25-1. Work that one out!

It's been the same tactic for a few seasons. It costs us because we aren't prepared.

2 games before August 31st this year and we picked up 1point out of 6 because we were a mess. Modric was being a dick and didn't play, and rafa knew he was off (so did avb) so he was on the bench.

Spurs had a 7 point lead over Arsenal with 10 games left after the NLD, so the chance looks to have been squandered by Spurs, although I agree that it's not over yet as you can't write Newcastle off. They have some quality players and with the pressure off they might perform. We've seen many unexpected results on the last day. Teams with nothing to play for still go to the end against teams needing a result- remember Spurs v Birmingham in 2011?

Flaspur and Spurm you both make good points and I agree with both sides on this. It's just so bloody disappointing to get so close again and miss out. Especially to bloody Arsenal!
As long as we win on Sunday then I can't fault the effort over the last few weeks and we won't have bottled it.

I guess we see things differently. Like yourself, I've been through the absolute dire periods of the late eighties and the nineties and finally, I can see us developing a great team and a good squad. For the sake of one point, all that good work could be undone.

Settling for a good run in the EL is not about any form of glory for me. Not if it means we stagnate as a team and our squad never develops. Progression is key and that takes ambition.

I just want our Chairman to back this manager and show some courage.

  10. Let me take a guess... Um...

Irish plastic twats backing 'Pool for yet another "this season will be our season" extravaganza?

Just a wild punt by me.

Agreed. I also agree with flaspurs points, it's a daft argument/discussion.

The fact Chelsea AND arsenal raped (sorry, couldn't think of any alternative word) us last season and the fact arsenal will likely pip us this the worst thing about it

True Luke but we had a very tough run. We should have got something out of the Liverpool match. The only really bad result was losing to Fulham at home. But if we win on Sunday we will have won 5 drawn 3 and lost 2 of our last 10 games. That includes playing Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea and Man City.
Arsenal's points haul has been nothing short of incredible. They have had some luck but begrudgingly they do deserve credit for turning it around.

How's that desperate? It wasn't even a wum attempt COYG. It's fact.

The massive spenders are giving the likes of Arsenal and Spurs no chance.

You can brag all you like about being in the CL, and if you make it, fair enough and well done. - but you have no chance of winning it, and to cope with that as well the premiership, you'll have to sacrifice the FA and CO cup.

Which means you'll win nothing. Again.

We get caught up in this battle for a top 4 spot and lose sight of winning a trophy. - well, until this season when AVB went for the Europa where glory is possible. Difficult, but possible.

Same reason England have good odds for every World Cup - bookies know people are dumb enough to put money on it.

The odd's reflect the money bet not the likelihood of the bet coming in. The bookies have to balance their books. If £500M in small amounts was bet on Cardiff to win the Prem next season their odds would tumble.

The shorter odds for Liverpool than for Spurs when both have finished significantly off the pace this season just proves that Liverpool fans are more deluded than us lot.

No point trying to explain facts to Goons, Roo. They're too busy acting like it's all over, when they still have to go away and beat Newcastle.

Funny how we never hear a word from them except when they MIGHT finish one point in front of us - having spent many millions more!..
