So, lads and lasses, are you happy with the forum background picture? I think it represents a time that will take a long, long time to fade from the memory
Sorry, Gandy, I wanted to give folk the opportunity to praise you for your efforts, but it seems nobody is interested!
Apology sirs, I'm still trying to find my way around this site, I thought every page had a background but they don't. I think it looks fantastic and reminds me of the last few years everytime I see it. Keep it I say.
Very nice, but you need the NCFC badge up there! And a bit of my favourite GILF Delia wouldn't go amiss!
How exactly is it generic ffs? Do you know what that means? It's a picture taken of the celebrations after the last game of the season at Carrow Road. Seemed as good as any, and certainly no worse than the Leeds one, which is just a view of the stadium. This one actually has a relevance to a great moment in our recent history, one which means a lot to a lot of people who are fans of our great club. Just think - this could be Leeds next year!
Yes, run-of-the-mill; standard; rigidly within expectations; plainly ubiquitous. That kind of thing. It's generic because it's the same as on the Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester, QPR boards etc... just a bunch of players all looking happy. Leeds' is meant to transcend just being a bunch of players, it's timeless pictures of the club, i.e. our famous ground and our famous fans at their most glorious. Even if it were, I'd rather see a team commemorating some actual silverware than a two-bit, second rate victory. In fact, I'd rather it just stayed the same, maybe I'd have a message saying 'BACK HOME IN THE TOP DIVISION' or something like that. No offence intended, I just find it really predictable and pedestrian.
Loiner, I can't be bothered to do all the quotes or editing like you, it's not that important to me, but: Yours is NOT a timeless picture, it's a bog standard snap of a bit of the ground, with some cars and scaffolding. How that invokes 'your famous fans at their most glorious' is for you to know and me to be bewildered by. A two-bit, second-rate victory? If you say so. I guess you wouldn't have been unhappy with it, it's your right isn't it? When all is said and done, it's just a bit of nonsense on an internet football forum. At least i can see it as such.
Loiner - I understand where you are coming from! We have enjoyed back to back promotions, we are happy, we are excited at the peospect of Premier League football. It has been so long since Leeds had anything like that to celebrate that you can't remember those feelings. Never mind! Maybe next year!
It's the old facade of Elland Road back in the 70s when we were the best club in the world. Of course it's timeless. And the fans are on either side of it. If your monitor's too small to view that part of the image, I suggest you right click and view the full picture. That's what I meant with the reference to the fans. I never said I wouldn't have been happy, just that I wouldn't be flaunting it. Guess that shows the gulf between LUFC and NCFC. As can I, just saying what I see, amigo.
There always has been. I would wish Norwich luck but that would be dishonest of me as I'd be reasonably happy to see you relegated.
I guess the upshot is, Leeds in the seventies has as much bearing on me as the Old Cathusians back in the day. Anyway your complete honesty as a generic arrogant Leeds fan does you proud.
Football's disappointed me for almost my whole life. I think I'll be able to cope with the Canaries surviving the top flight for a season.
Anyway Dave, **** it, I like it anyway! Loiner's too busy on that awful live chat thing anyway! Be good, see ya later.
