Without a doubt, I'd just forgotten that he was out of contract, the same with Boyd (although it appears he's already signed). From outside the club I'd be looking at Manonne, Liam Trotter and Jordan Rhodes.
Nobody's mentioned Leigh Griffiths so far, me included though that's because I'd forgot. I'd happily take him on a free and then spend the money on either Rhodes or Austin. Still can't believe we signed McLean over Austin in the first place!
Doubt it, nobody particularly wanted Bullard, prem teams are after Rhodes and will be expected to pay part of his wages as they're not ridiculously high for a prem striker, though they are exceptional for a championship player! Players like Samba and Remy at QPR on the other hand could well move on that condition, what a train wreck that club is becoming...
I used to really rate Kevin Doyle and would definitely have wanted us to get him but not sure now if he's lost what he had or just that Wolves have been so poor that he has been dragged down by the rest of the players around him. If he could recapture the form of 2/3 years ago, he would be a great asset and probably just the type of player we could do with to lead the line!
There's no chance of getting Kone or Maloney. They'll get better clubs if Wigan go down. Same as McManaman, Watson etc.
That's cheaper than we're supposed to be offering for Austin! I'd be very surprised if a few prem clubs don't go in for him. Maybe Aston Villa if Benteke goes
Sorry I should have been specific, I've only heard/read it somewhere but I can't remember where that he's valued at £7m. It might have been on here to be honest. Not that that's important, £6.5m for Kone is a great price
Austin is going into the last year of his contract, there's no way he'll go for £7m, more like £3-5m.
