You can get 5âs re Liber for the Oaks with plenty of bookie chappies â Ladbrokes, Corals, Paddy Power, old boy Victor. Telescope now available at 6âs with a run and 8/1 âall inâ for the Derby, people. Interesting support this morn for the French colt Ocovango and the German horse Chopin. Some obviously feel that connections will get a good tune out of this one...
Sorry, Dex, but that Chopin must be a headline writer’s dream. And I bet some will be even worse than mine! Chopin won his only race of the term though, a Group 3, by 8 lengths so indications are that he's no mean performer.
Got to love all this cloak and dagger stuff in the lead up to the Derby Sir Barney I'm missing Mr Henderson's photo old chap.
I'm sure everyone on the forum is, Oddy. However, as the current state of play is almost like a hospital bedside vigil (well without the hospital or the bedside) I’ll keep up the Telescope picture in the hope it will inspire the old boy to make a full recovery in advance of Epsom.
Put a great new "desktop wallpaper" on my laptop yesterday - Sprinter Sacre pinging one down the back straight at Aintree. Marvellous. Meanwhile, it's almost time for lunch and we have asparagus soup on the menu today. A place called Beelitz, just outside Berlin, produces the best white "spargel" you can get and during May and June it's served in all it's glory.
2.50 Wincanton Star Of Massini 16/1 e.w & Nothingbutthetruth 20/1 Star Of Massini, a good 4th to Gigginstowns MAKE YOUR MARK on debut, has never won over 2 and a half and best efforts have come at the minimum 2m trip. However, todays good to firm ground at Wincanton can play right to his strengths, especially at a tight track where prominently ridden horses can escape with races. He was a narrow 2nd a couple of starts back when adopting a bold ride tactic from the front, and I think given todays conditions, we might see the same. He has a really handy 7lb claim today meaning he races effectively off just 93, and he is down in class here having actually finished in front of the likes of SEVENTH SKY recently when 2nd. He is potentially very fairly handicapped if seeing this trip out and his price is excellent. The claiming jockeys record is promising considering he is worth 7lb, 4 wins and 2 places from 19 rides for the Seamus Mullins team. Nothingbutthetruth is a **** or bust type available at 20/1. 9 years old now, little improvement is forthcoming but we know he can win off slightly higher and this might be a right old plot. Mark Nolan has a good record riding for the Wollacott yard and his 3lb claim sees this one race off just 89, a full 10lb lower than when last seen hurdling a couple of starts back when 7th of 14 in what for its type was a competitive enough event- serial disappointers like Frankilno in behind! His jumoing has let him down on the chase scene but reverted back to hurdles he is beginning to look like a well handicapped horse, even if he is a 9YO, and the booking of Nolan seems to coincide with the fact a better run might be anticipated.
3.10 Bev Divertimenti 2/1. 9 length winner over 6f on friday, comes here on the same mark before the handicapper can get to him. This race over 5f but should be winning this again before he is raised massively.
I know the feeling Bob- I really fancied him as a novice hurdler last year and then he got minced by your namesake in the mud in Ireland receiving about 10lb! Think he could do with good ground and the minimum trip myself!
That would have been more applicable if I’d have put up a picture of a pair of binoculars in honour of my old fave, Binocular! Post lunch question. Has there ever been a more fittingly named horse than Springinherstep who runs in the card commencer at Winkers in just over an hours time?!? Any filly handled by Mr Henderson surely must indeed have a spring in her old step. What, what?!? Tistory doesn’t go tomoroow but in at both Aintree and Bangor later in week.
Prolinx in the 5.50 Southwell looks overpriced. Has decent form over the winter and can be excused for last run in the mud. Currently 7/1
Hunt Ball has been sold privately then and won't be going through the sale ring later in the week. Wonder who’s got him??? Anyone know???
Probobly Sheikh Mo. Some atrocious stuff forecast for Chepstow this afternoon/evening...gonna be a raft of non runners and maybe an abandonment!
howdy folks.couple of bets for me this afternnon.Turban/league of nations & master medici treble win. Will also be having a footy punt on both arsenal & man city to win without concedeing a goal at 15/2
He keeps paying his way at 2m4f as an each way bet. Had him at 20/1 at Cheltenham and 11/1 at Punchy for my handicap bets of the week at both festivals. Unbelievably frustrating.
