i think that sats is just a bit too massaged to big up sturridge.

Take a look at the leading goal scorer chart however.

    Van Persie Man Utd 25
    Suarez Liverpool 23
    Bale Tottenham 20
    Benteke Aston Villa 19
    Michu Swansea 18
    Ba Chelsea 15
    Lampard Chelsea 15
    Berbatov Fulham 14
    Lambert Southampton 14
    Lukaku West Brom 14
    Dzeko Man City 13
    Walcott Arsenal 13
    Cazorla Arsenal 12
    Rooney Man Utd 12
    Aguero Man City 11
    Defoe Tottenham 11
    Fellaini Everton 11
    Fletcher Sunderland 11
    Giroud Arsenal 11
    Kone Wigan 11
    Le Fondre Reading 11
    Sturridge Liverpool 11
    Tevez Man City 11

    League goals only.

Lets put sturridge in context, Aguero has missed a lot of games but sturridge has as many goals as him! He matches tevez too both key city players.... Hes got just about as many as any arsenal player despite them playing all year and he has not.... Michu is talked of as the greatest singing ever but utter flopped second half.. 18 goals for him.. sturridge is not far behind him is he?

Fletcher cost sunderland the same fee as sturridge, sunderland have mcclean and johnson to provide ammo yet struggled. Sturridge has as many as this guy in a short period.

Lukaku is chelsea's big hope and out on loan he's got 14 swapping round with Long in a side not far off us even seeing they've given up chasing us. He's got 14. Sturrdige is another hat trick away form him.

all in all the minutes per goal is nice and all it puts sturridge baove the top players which aint right but just comparing what he's done just by total of goals you can really see how impressive an impact he's made

Do you mean as in a holding midfielder or just in his pass and move ability?

  3. Good to hear from you pal. You take it easy and make sure you make a good full and proper recovery <ok>

  4. Not meaning to piss in your pot MITO but if your going to look at league goals only then Sturridge has ten. The eleventh was against Stags <ok>

  5. I think that is fairly obvious <laugh>

He scored for Chelsea against Spurs in the league this year, so 11 for the League is correct, he's got 10 league goals for us since the move..

    Stato-out!

  9. Ironically, I was basing it on BBC figures too. However, I have just found it so that I could paste a link and they have now changed it to eleven in the league, twelve in total <doh>

    Edit:...

Ah, that could be it. I looked at 'current club' first time around and 'this season' just now <ok>

Good thread. He has actually got a better finish than Suarez. He's a natural goalscorer.

Couple this with Suarez all round ability to do everything (and score!), and add Coutinho then it looks great.

Depth is important though, no use having a great first 11 with no back up - this has hindered us a lot in the last 6-8 years.

A better indication is this MITO:

Daniel Sturridge has scored a goal every 105.7 minutes in the Premier League this season - the best ratio in the Premier League.

It's just a shame that we didn't manage to bring him in during the summer when Rodgers was trying to get him on loan. He needs to carry it on next year but I think the fact that Suarez is out for first 4 games means Sturridge will know he'll be the main man at the start and if he performs well, then it will make it hard for Rodgers to leeave him out when Suarez is back.

Will be good to see Suarez, Sturridge & Coutinho all lined up together for a few games on the bounce to really see what they can do. We could almost then play 2 DM's to provide that extra protection that we used to have under Benitez.

ah but that is not so impressive if you think how few minutes he got to play and then you still have to wonder if he had to play every week would he stay fit, these are unknowns. This is why i thought it was better to just compare totals and show how big names stack up against what he's gone and done. I mean someone could have played 3 games, scored on hat trick and beaten that stat.

He's matched some really big names, he's next big test is not to be made out to be better than suarez but to play a full season cos so far he's not done that for anyone. If he stays relatively injury free (seems susceptible to strains and pulls) then i think he can go for 20 goals and if its 1 every 2 games and 120mins everyone on here will be delighted.

a lot of potential still elf tin him i hope.

I think with the lack of minutes the fact he's scored loads in excellent.

Now he's getting a fair crack at it with Suarez out he looks match fit, which he hasn't a lot of the time.

He's got work to do, but he has done well.
