Never a situation where Liverpool were certs. We've been faffing around again. If we've missed him I'll be gutted. Hazard, Oscar, mata and eriksen. How many more number 10s are we going to miss!

    Apparently it's his official Facebook.

I guess with comments like that he doesn't want to stay!

  5. What a muppet. Do these overpaid idiots never learn???? <doh>

If he did have a future at Spurs next year then he just about wrote that off. Pity, because he may well have featured rather more regularly.

There have been questions as to whether that is the "official" Danny Rose account.

That account doesn't appear to exist. Probably a fake.

It's one of those 'fan pages' apparently, there was an awful lot on twitter about it. Someone will have posted it on there tongue in cheek I'm sure.

update: it was thought to be real, as someone had said that he's on facebook, which apparently he is. However, this page got caught u in the confusion nd no longer exists as it was a fake.

However, there is talk of us apparently asking for £7m, then he's free to leave.

    http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/0...-bid-to-sign-man-united-striker-wayne-rooney/

"Real Madrid president Perez is desperate to land a ‘Marquee’ signing this summer to aid his re-election to the Bernabeu post and with moves to bring in Tottenham winger Gareth Bale seemingly hitting a dead-end the 66 year old Spaniard has turned his attention to Wayne Rooney.

Indeed Perez’s switch from Bale to Rooney as his preferred target may well be down to a basis of need, with Real Madrid having a fair few wide attacking options and not enough effective strikers in their armoury.

With moves to offload a number of the club’s big earners, with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Fabio Coentrao and Angel Di Maria being linked with exits, Perez will also look to resolve the lack of striking options."

I know it's Caught Offside, but wouldn't this be a dream... Keep Bale, wave goodbye to Wazza, and maybe even sign up Higuain, Coentrao and Di Maria :D

we need to stop dreaming of established world class players like Higuain. It aint gonna happen. Even if we make the CL, we'll be getting up and coming youngsters.

Looks like Eriksen is going to Dortmund, which i'm massively pissed off about. We just don't act quickly enough and end up getting what's left.

more realistic signings for us will be the like of:

    T.Ince, C.Mcmanaman, C.Benteke etc etc.

You know, I would be happy with any two out of three of those.

As long as if the one we didn't get was Benteke, we still signed at least two strikers!

I'd say one of the first 2 with Townsend is enough, plus Benteke (which is seeming more unlikely to more i hear out of Villa)

Haha, hadn't seen OnlyOneDB's comment. Great minds eh?

Think that Parker is one of the most likely departures in the summer, Spurm

As for a young DM replacement, wouldn't surprise me if we didn't bother looking for one with Sandro and Kaboul, who can fulfil that role IMHO, to return.

I fancy Verty could deputise there too. However, weren't we supposed to be looking at one of the "Wigan Ms", the DM one?

It says McCarthy in the article. Not sure where that's come from to be honest, we need a top quality midfielder, not another Holtby or Sigurdsson who's still young and learning.

Hazard and Mata were out of our price range - Hazard especially - whilst Oscar we were gazumped with a much bigger bid.

We were never going to get Eriksen once Dortmund were in though, they've got CL and they've got £32 million to spend (and they need to spend it as well) after selling Gotze. Unfortunate for us but hardly surprising or unprecedented in our case.

According to that interview with hazard he'd agreed to come to us for a fee and then we had that collapse! And this is what I'm talking about with fees and faffing about! Some players cost more than others. Sometimes we have to pay the fee! We can't always pick up a bargain. And those signings are shocking. A good player for a relegation threatened side? Baring benteke there's nothing there that makes us stronger. First team signings are what we need, not cover. Sig, Dempsey, Ade? Mid table at best at the moment. We need an eriksen/ really really good creative no10 to push on. A decent striker and a left back. Minimum. Son and a tempo player (strootman or roberto perhaps) if we're really going to make some sort of challenge to the established order.
