Who in there right mind would want to work for Mike Ashley FFS ?? Newcastle COULD be a championship club within 2 weeks ? It would have almost been nailed on IF Wigan had not fooooo'ked up the Swansea game. imo. As for Steve Bruce, it will take a better club than Newcastle to prize him away.
AKHairyBollocks? now we are in the PL and it doesn't look too promising for LESSta getting outta the championship, does that mean that you will leave our forum never to return? (or is that a pipe dream?)
I agree patty. Speaking English with a foreign accent is no more courteous than speaking slowly and loudly.
Darren is staying put @ the Posh.!! I bet there is a relegation clause in the contract but still a payout of some sort is involved. Newcastle are a joke and have been for years. Not at much as you may think i would suggest. Neil Lennon from Celtic maybe worth a few quid at the bookies whilst Pardew is still in situe.
It's probably worse. The locals don't speak English to each other normally, so when do they hear English in their local accent? At least maintaining your own accent it sounds more familiar to what they've seen on TV and in films when it's been subtitled rather than dubbed. If you're going to change the accent for their benefit then doing it in something more like a traditional BBC accent is the best bet.
Exactly Stanley ex bloodyactly. We're English they learn our language. I don't go to Spain 6 times a year to speak Spanish, I'm spreading our culture to them. It's missionary work.
I remember (in my mis-spent youth) that we introduced 'em to Watneys Red Barrel; fish-and-chips; I could go on - but I won't.... Suffice to say that what we taught 'em, they never forgot!
The main thing is that 8 year contract which will cost Ashley a small fortune to get out of, no matter what the terms are, secondly the reason Newcastle have been struggling is because they have been putting far too much effort into the Europa League, they took their eyes off the big picture & have slipped up dramatically, add to that the huge influx of players in January & not a striker after losing Ba. I think they'll be fine this season & next year they'll be back challenging.
Why would it cost Ashley a small fortune if the terms are that he only has to pay a small amount for terminating it in the close season?
Mainly because the manager wouldn't sign anything where he wasn't getting a big payout & equal terms of what Ashley would get if he's poached. It's just my thinking of how things in football seem to work.
So what if Ashley also gets a reduced amount if someone tries to poach Pardew early in the summer? (Making the 8 years a deterrent for mid season poaching that would unsettle the squad with little time to get a new man in to do things his way)
Looks like Newcastle's win @ DQPR on sunday has saved Pardews bacon. Ashley told him to improve the squad for next season (ssn) and with no europa league fixtures to worry about the toon expect a top 10 finish next season.
