Should please Flyer......... 13/05/2013 By West London Sport QPR are*planning another attempt to sign Scott Parker from Tottenham, according to the Daily Mirror. It is claimed that Rangers boss Harry Redknapp, who managed the midfielder while in charge at Spurs, is keen to take him to Loftus Road. Former Chelsea and West Ham man Parker, 32, was Tony Fernandesâ first-choice signing when the Malaysian took over as QPR chairman in 2011 and the Râs made an unsuccessful attempt to buy him before eventually signing Joey Barton. But it is claimed that Redknapp needs to persuade Fernandes to sanction a move for Parker, who struggled with injuries last season.
Perfect Ranger: Spurs' Scott Parker wanted by old boss Redknapp to help lick QPR into shape 13 May 2013 22:30 Midfielder facing being squeezed out by summer signings would be Hoops' role model Go west: Will Redknapp lure Parker across London to Loftus Road? Getty * Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has targeted Scott Parker to lead his relegated team back to the Premier League, writes Alan Nixon. Redknapp is returning to former club Tottenham for the midfield general, who was one of his best buys for the White Hart lane club. Parker has had an injury-hit campaign, and Spurs – seeking to strengthen in the middle of the park themselves over the summer – may cash in on the 32-year-old. Redknapp knows Parker well and will try to persuade QPR owner Tony Fernandes that the experienced England international is an ideal man to both change the culture and improve the playing style at Loftus Road. Parker could also collect a big final pay-day if he becomes another of the Hoops' high-earning stars. It would probably mean the end of his England ambitions in a World Cup year however, so this would be a huge decision for him. Quality signings are uppermost in the mind of Redknapp, who has claimed the current squad wouldn't finish in the top half of the Championship, as he aims for instant promotion back to the top flight with a new-look team. Parker’s chances may also be reduced at Spurs, whose plans for a close-season revamp including Wigan midfielder James McCarthy. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...tenham-transfers-scott-parker-wanted-1887407?
Yeah, just what we need, another past it player coming here for a last pay day. Why would he come here for anything apart from money?
Yes, if he could be lured by 'Arry, he would likely do a great job for us - I always thought he came across as the quintessential English footballer, a strong skillful leader who puts his body on the line and not draped with a whole bunch of nonsense tattoos that seem to be norm for some players these days.
32 year old former England international. No thanks. We have had his sort before - an over the hill has been. I'll go mad if we sign anybody over the age of 25 this Summer. Flyer is right.
Don't agree with you or Finglas here. I too would like to see more younger players at the club but we also badly need leaders on the pitch and Parker is all of that. He busts a gut every time he takes to the pitch and leads by example. Considering Lampard and Scholes are still two of the best midfielders in the Prem, Parker still has a lot to offer. IMHO, we need a blend of youth and experience. The problem we have had for the last two years was our more senior players were not leaders. They too went missing. Parker is a Derry style player with much more quality. We can't just continue to say no to older players. It's the players attitude that matters not their age.
to have a player of that class in the championship would be a real bonus he is better than any of our current midfielders now
Bit of a gamble. I can see why the press think 'Arry would go for him. Fits the profile 'Arry keeps talking about. Has the tenacity for the Championship - but does he have the fitness? Too much of a gamble at the price in my eyes. Can't see him taking a drop down right now - wont happen. Would prefer, and expect, that we go for a similar type, but younger and on the up.
I am sure we will be in for allsorts and at least that's going to be entertaining on here... 12 weeks ago he couldn't fault the players and they were all good lads . Spurs will off load Parker I would have thought It's Harry's game from here on in whether I like it or not and I am usually wrong ... He will get a few faces he knows in I would have thought If we win a few games I am still certain that what we have at the club will grow into a good side In reflection the dreadful goals we have let in this year are poor errors which still smack of the lowest confidence you can get All watch carefully as a few wins come and they will how Harold treats it all then Said on here since my start you cannot buy confidence A fresh start and Scott Parker as captain even I can see that all working I am sure a few fresh hungry faces will added to the blend but I do not see a full fire sale Faurlin Parker Jenas A fit SWP Sorry but Park will shine if we keep him in the championship Think ... And add to the list Traore Even Johnson coming back and Harold likes him It's Tuesday and I am happy
46 games lads You will see us have two midfields I am certain plenty of options I am sure A team to grind out a winter point up north ... A team to win 6-0 at home It's a good day today
Think we could have said that last year about Park. He too was a genuine footballer, with a great pedigree. (and I still do not doubt his heart or his mind, I do not feel he is a weasel like some of the others....I suspect he is as upset about his form and ability as we are) But putting on the hooped shirt, just drains it out of them
Have to agree & he'd certainly give some leadership which we've lacked but would be a gamble due to injury record & wouldn't want to blow all the budget on 1 player as the squad we're going to have isn't good enough without a number of replacements.
