Confused ????? This daft discussion happened weeks ago and it was laughed off Different strokes for different folks if you are happy for one day of glory rather then years of top flight football. If you are happy that all your key players will be sold and at a guess the mAnager will leave with you left with A load of kids as who to be fair are you going to attract to come to Wigan ??? Championship/ league one for you guys but at least you had a day at wembley to join the likes of Wimbledon (No longer in business)and Pompey who are virtually Sunday league
Another daft comment with no substance, love or hate the fact that football is a business and without money you are screwed Simple stuff really oh unless you like watching championship standard of football QUOTE=HP Sauce;4731036] Well said. You're a credit to your club.[/QUOTE]
No seriously, you really are. Size of crowds, turnover, revenues from competitions, buying expensive talent, shirt sales, overseas subscriptions for your own tv channel - these are the things that matter. These are the measures of success. Tinpot cup like the FA Cup - it's just one day of glory isn't it. Interesting that you've "had the daft conversation already" on your board, and it was "laughed off". Do you think perhaps that had something to do with the fact that NUFC weren't in the competition any more, and so it was a bit of a moot point to discuss? Do you think maybe it might be the case that after how many years of desperately trying to win a trophy, you can all now decide that you didn't want one anyway?
"Big Club" aslehores at nine o'clock! They're like the fascist bully boys who HATE anybody who doesn't agree with them or is not like them.
There are lots of great supporters of big clubs Terry, their problem is they have so many people on the periphery of their support who "know the price of everything and the value of nothing". They'll always struggle to understand the sentiment and values of bloggers like this - http://www.neilsimmswriting.blogspot.co.uk/
HP,I think that you will have to console yourself with the fact that despite the fact that you are rank outsiders again tomorrow night 99% of neutral fans will be wanting you to win at The Emirates, myself included.I quite like Sunderland and unlike Beefy I don't want to see Lambert fail either. If you can win the last two games and send one of the others down then good luck to you. It's a bit like QPR having to win at Citeh last year to stay up.Do I want Wigan to do it - yes.Do I think they will - no.
The conversation was when we were in the qtr finals of the Europa cup Last month so quite a fresh discussion to have. Regarding the fa cup if you had to choice between say Finishing in the top ten or a champions league spot I would choice the fa cup Every day cos its a great cup but between staying in the premiership and safe guarding your future its a no brainier.
lol, FA Cup as "consolation". You must be young men. I'll leave it at this. First we're not down yet and let's see what tomorrow night brings. Second, it would have really hurt if we had lost both the final and our PL status, but I don't think we can be hurt now. An FA Cup win to our little club means more to us than you two can possibly imagine, and we can't be hurt now.
It's been suggested that we run a Championship thread on our board next season. So,if you do go down then you will be welcome to join in with that. It's partly for ourselves and partly for the Not606 people whose clubs don't have a great deal going on on their own boards.Best of luck for your next two games anyway,if not hope to see you in contention to come back next season.
Toon fan in peace. I like Wigan, and I was happy to see you win the FA Cup. I think that tackle has brought out a lot of hate towards Wigan from our fans, made even more intense with the fact we lost the game and the fact it went unpunished. But for me having clubs like Wigan in the league is a breath of fresh air, and I like the fact that just their existence pisses off so many football fans that would rather see the monotonous 'big guns' in the Prem like Leeds, Forest, Leicester and Middlesboring. I may have disagreed with Whelan's comments on McManaman's tackle on Haidara, however I have a huge amount of respect for what he has done for his hometown football club and the meteoric rise he has facilitated. I really hope you stay up somehow. 2 wins is not impossible!
If they win tomorrow I think that they will do it,that's the tricky bit though because Arsenal need the points. They are grizzling that they never get anything when Mike Dean refs.
It's a shame that people would take survival over winning a trophy with the history and gravitas of the FA cup. When I'm 90 and a burden on my children I hope I have a cup win to remember by the fire. What's the difference in reality to a fan between scraping 40 points in the prem forever or playing in the lower leagues?
Watford,I'm just guessing here but I rather fancy that the lads back on the QPR board would almost to a man have chosen survival over an FA cup win.
